Afternoon folks! This week a new theme I wanted to give a whirl.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #8
This week's theme is going to be the "Mar Sara Blues". Rather than restricting you to one specific theme, I want to try restricting you to one tileset and one feeling. Simply said, I want you to make a Mar Sara landscape that conveys the emotion of 'sadness', in any way you can make that work. Quite curious to see what you folks will do with this. Good luck!
I'm pretty new with the editor but i like this kinds of exercises. they really help :) Here we go, my first try.
You have a skull and a rock in the crater, i would think the ship crash landing there would have destroyed anything in its path.
The Focus settings of the camera is used great. Well done
Either you place them on the map and then view them in game, the option I've preferred, and used in my previous WTE, is to find the actor for the doodad (usually environmental ones), and check the Editor Model field, just change this to the actual model instead of the generic doodad one.
naa I think birds are too positiv xD and I wanted the enviroment to be dead so the only "living" in the picture is the colonist.
Also I really like the Mar Sara Skybox as its a perfect match for this kind of theme. And normaly the top issnt that bar cause you see the wind and some leafes flew around.
But anyways - im glad you like it and thanks for your comment :D

Hit "v" to toggle between editor view and in game view
actualy this "fog" is a rough wind but thats some sort of thing you cant see on a picture :D
How depressing. He just popped out to get some snacks and now look at it.
Looks great mate. :D Loving the Dead end sign.
Suggestion: Add doodad birds in the background, the top half of the image is a bit bare

Here's some shots from a Campaign of mine i've been "Working" with. Figured the monotone lighting might fit in with your terraining exercises.
And a badly edited video of the map with a lovely song:
Credit to CZBnE for the Outro.
Let there be cake?
My submission.
@Otixa: Go
Is that really Mar Sara? Looks really nice. Although it looks more metropolis like than mar sara which I consider an old western style planet.
Here's mine. i went with a "What about the wives of the dominion soldiers." type look into it.
