I had this exact same idea and started working on it. I hit a brick wall with sc2 map limitations. Search my message threads and you'll see a discussion about it. Instead now I'm working on a version of 1v1 obs in Lost Temple, but with ability to choose 2v2 along with other UI and team selection enhancements. Bummer about map cycling, but it is what it is until Blizzard lifts the map size limit (very unlikely in the foreseeable future).
That's why you see a bunch of different versions of 1v2 Obs...the author keeps putting out more. How do I find out who wrote that and get in touch with him anyway?
Yeah, I don't know. I wish I could have someone teach me how to use the editor, it's so difficult. ICJUG on the main page is making a decent 1v1 obs and I sent him an email at [email protected]. Maybe we can combine our efforts and get something done.
When I'm done with my system it should be transferrable to other maps assuming you lay down the correctly named entities (Points, Cameras, etc). I agree the editor is a pain to learn but I've managed to figure most of the stuff out with a lot of great help from this forum. In a couple weeks I'll be ready to bet test my map...PM me if you'd be interested in being a tester.
Welcome to sc2mapster. If your interested in some learning, I have some newbie level tutorials in my signature. What do you mean by "obs" maps. You mean tournament style maps with observers like ICJUG?

Yeah that's exactly what I mean. I tried looking at tutorials but they go over my head.
I did the math and realized pretty quickly that you can't even fit 2 decent sized maps into the allowed size. So the idea of having multiple maps as playable in a single game is simply not possible. Had the same idea but instead had to implement my observer system in one map with the idea of porting to other maps later (like 1v1 Obs series does). My system handles arbitrary team sizes, so it is applicable to any map in the game, not just 1v1's. I release in about a week so we'll see how it goes and if it gets good feedback I'll start porting to larger maps for 4v4, 2v2v2v2, etc.
I'm looking to hire some(one) to create a 1v1 Obs map much like the 1v1 Obs custom map in bnet.
The only difference is, I want there to be a pool of maps to choose from and rotate while in game.
If anyone's interested in the job, send me a PM and i'll get back to you.

Just moved this over to Team Recruitment for ye.
This would not be very hard - the map pool can consist of maps of only one texture set, but we can modify other maps to use one.
Then we just make a grid of maps, and set the playable game area to the one in use.
the only problem is they must all fit on 256x256.
As in, you're paying?

If it was possible to fit many maps in one, you could bet iCJug would have done that.
