Hey, this is a thread for the progress of my mod, which I decided to call zX Combat.
zX combat is a mod designed to remove all ground elements from the teams. When Blizzard first made the first alpha of Star Craft that actually was the direction they wanted to go, but then they made it more like Warcraft in order to make the game easier to work on, as they where fresh off making Warcraft. (or was it Warcraft 2?)
Ideas and Concepts
So I decided to work on Protoss side first.
- I decided to make 2 types of units, normals, and Primes.
- I decided to make Mothership Cores and Motherships act like Nexus accepting resources.
- Player starts with a Mothership core which can only make Probe Primes, then with enough minerals can upgrade it to a Mothership.
- There Can be multiple motherships, but they do not have all the abilities of normal SC2 Motherships.
- The Mothership can Upgrade again with Minerals and gas to a Mothership core Prime.
- Motherahip Core Primes can build normal Mothership Cores so that they can be used as expansions and collect minerals.
- Mothership Core Primes can Upgrade into Mothership Primes, which is the flagship of the Golden Armada (Only 1, but bad ass)
There is Warp Prism Primes which when in Warp Mode, can Create Military Prime units (Phoenixes, Void Rays, Carriers and tempests)
There is also Sentry, Oracle and Observer Primes.
-The sentry Prime Has upgrades for all the Prime ships, and normal sentries can use their shield ability.
- The Oracle Prime Has abilities it can research and use. Such as cloak, or Psi Storm, or Hallucinate.
- Observer Primes house other upgrades for the Prime units, and they can make observers which are used for scouting.
Progress
So far I am totally done making all the Protoss units.
I have made all the morph animations, sounds and what not work to upgrade the mothership core to a mothership, then to a morthership Core prime, then again to a Mothership Prime
I have made all the mothership's and cores build the correct Primes.
I have made all th Prime Units, and have made them all able to spawn the correct units.
Made Probes flying, trying to make them look like interceptors
What needs to be done
Right now the big things that need to be done are
- Cancel buttons for upgrades are buggy and need to be looked at FIXED
- Upgrades need to be implemented
- Abilities for Sentry's and Orcales need to be implemented
- Need to figure out how to deal with vespen gas... make a ship that produces it every few seconds, making targets for the enemy to kill, or make it like a floating rock you have to build a vespen gas collector on... I just don't want to have to use ground.. I was also thinking make destructible rocks drop gas and minerals when destroyed so it is like the player is mining asteroids...
- Need to make requirements for Warp Prism Primes so players cannot rush to carriers and tempests, make it so Mothership Prime is needed
I will be constantly using this thread to update status of my work on my mod. This is my first mod, so work is slow, but constant. I will not start another project until this one is done. For now this thread will be boring as heck, but soon I will get an alpha of my mod out and I will be looking for criticism and suggestions!
