So, for about 2 months now - I have been pottering about, learning my way through the new and improved (read: convoluted and useless) galaxy editor. Finally, what started off as a bit of terraining practice has turned into my newest project.
Codename: Warzone (a better, cooler, more apt name is soon to come)
Type: Custom Battle
Modes: Deathmatch - Capture the Flag - King of the Hill - Team Survival
Features: 6 Unique Weapons and 4 even more Unique Abilities
Cool Features: Full collision-detection for Missiles into a) Terrain and b) Doodads
More Cool Stuff: Advanced Lighting Triggers - Flashbangs that white-out your opponents screen
More Lightning: A Day/Night Cycle with a sunset/sunrise...
Note: THIS IS NOT A FIRST PERSON/THIRD PERSON SHOOTER wannabe... think more along the lines of Warlocks from Warcraft3... but set in Iraq... Koprulu Iraq...
So, for now it is just a bit of eye-candy... but a private demo will soon be testing the abilities and weapons etc... Let me know what you guys think? Also, what do you guys think needs improving?
So the "missile collision" is for abilities that have to be aimed then, I assume.
Pretty much. Warlocks is a game on Warcraft 3; you spend gold on abilities and items. Every missle on Warlocks reacted with another or negated it. Last warlock standing wins (usually the map fills with lava completely and kills off any AFKers ...etc)
@Sephiex: You can still attack, but you cannot attack move. Your attack-type is determined by the current weapon that you have selected. Various talents and skills (gained through saved Experience) influence your different weapon strengths...
For example, a Punisher Grenade Launcher fires a missile in an arc. It is possible to use this to shoot over barricades and walls which would otherwise stop more linear missiles or rockets... Another example of a Terran ability is the Flare. It will distract missiles which are currently homing/tracking you.
The Glaive Wurm attack can be upgraded/specialised to bounce off of barricades and walls.
Likewise, the Disruptor Pulse can be upgraded/specialised to 'split' into multiple attacks.
@Blackveiled: Yeah, Warlocks was pretty fun. But this (in my humble opinion) is going to be vastly different/improved. Instead of buying your abilities, you select your race. Terran/Zerg/Protoss all get different weapons - which spawn across the map as the game progresses. Your abilities are not determined by mana or energy - but instead by the amount of ammunition you pick up. For example, a Terran person can only use 2 Flares if he has acquired 2 Grenade Pickups and his Grenade Skill is Flare.
The alpha release will only be Deathmatch. Since Combat is at the heart of the game - and it will be the core feature that requires the most balancing/testing... Later, I will add Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Team-Survival and any other modes hhat I can think of.

@Nardival: Go
Not a third-person shooter then what is it...a top-down shooter?
Like Warlocks...so I'm assuming you mainly use abilities. It's just not a shooter map I suppose.
So the "missile collision" is for abilities that have to be aimed then, I assume.
