So I was wondering which type system should I get for this game.
Mario Cart style = you get weapons/items in the road. The items cannot kill you and its more wacky style items.
Death rally style = you get weapons and start and can buy better weapons. Weapons can kill you. You also might find health upgrades or something like that along the road.
some more progress with the map. Sry guys, even tough 100% people voted for mario kart style I think im gona go death rally style anyway. You will probly have lots of health and get wacky weapons too, but dunno why I made this choise....lets see how it goes.
Hey Burne_, I played the map with you today on Bnet as 'Dresnia'.
For some reason my nickname is Zyff wich used to be my WoW nickname on this old Curse account, I'll look into changing this somehow :s
So here's some stuff I suggest, please note this isn't meant too come over like a jackass bossing you around. As stated before, BRAINSTORM !
The map really showed to me you are willing too put allot of effort into it by making custom weapons, custom vehicles and such stuff.
But people don't want too think when they boot a Custom map, they want instant easy too step into action at a low cost of user input.
I think I told this before on the IRC channel but you could consider just sticking too 3 weapons for now. You could make it more complex later on when the map gets people playing it you know.
Weapon 1 :
Your spammable one, like a machine gun something. A rocket or 4-5 but no auto-aim future. So it wouldn't really do much unless the person is really good or gets lucky hits. This weapon should cost you roughly 10-15% of your mana, but only a 2 or 3 second cooldown
Weapon 2 :
Your main weapon, a auto-aim strong hitting rocket. Would do about 10-20% damage on a player, but costs around 35-40% of your mana and has a rather long cooldown like 10 or even 15 seconds
Weapon 3 : A landmine, like you already have. Dealing about 40-60% damage, but make it so it doesn't last until run over. Make it last like 25% of the time it takes for 1 lap, and perhaps even make it so you can shoot it down with your spammable weapon so experienced players can get more stuff done
About the terrain, I know you stated this wasn't your biggest concern just yet. But try too 'Eyecandy' it up if that term is still used :-)
And last but not least, fix the 'sound issues' you have. Should be more then doable, and don't be afraid too ask others I'm sure someone around here knows how too do so properly !
Oh and about the 'wall stuck bugging', I guess we can just get it out by proper testing it over and over again and tweaking those regions around a bit.
(Yet again sorry if I sound like a jackass, I'm really here too make friends and support the community guys)
Thx. And as I said before I do not mind what kind of feedback I get, the map is what it is and Ill try to improve it as much as I can.
There is still some tweaking to do in the gameplay. I might change tracks, weapons or whatever seems fitting. I think its still not as fun as I would like it to be, so now I most likely just have to test stuff to see how it turns out.
Hey if I could make a recommendation, so you know how in like super smash bros everything is emphasized to point where it is unnecessary? Or any of those games with a ton of visuals that make no sense at all?
Well, those make games AWESOME! Because there are so few units in your game, you don't really need to worry about a lot of lag from that. So I would recommend making some crazy visuals that like, create a bunch of cool models. I'm pretty good at this, so if you want me to send some ideas, I will.
Also, how bout like a cumulative weapon system, where you buy stuff? (Unless you have already done this, which if you have I just now sound like an idiot haha). I'll explain what I mean anyways. So like, instead of having users pick stuff for their car at the begining, everyone starts with the same, basic, bland car. Then you can spend points you get to buy more stuff. So like you can buy visual and actual helpful upgrades for ur car. So you could make some really awesome abilities that you can buy with the points you earn. Don't make them give people too much of an advantage, just make them more cool looking and a "whoa, I want to play more so I can use that!" for new players. Then have like buy-able new cars, attachments, paint jobs, etc. Oh and add some flashlight features, and make it like those under the car neon lights, that would be sick.
In my opinion, the way you should get points is by like every couple seconds that you are in first, you get 2 points. Every couple seconds you are in second, you get 1 point. Nothing for third, fourth, fifth, and whatever else. And then check and make sure that the game is full, or at least almost full, before you can get anything. So that way, you don't get anything if you are just going by yourself or with one other person.
Another way to do this is by going you have to be in "6th to last" (first). So then if there aren't six people, you can't be getting the first place bonus)
You could also make 2 game variants. One would be the competitive one, where you can't join as a party and then "boost". The other would be so like a party of 6 could join, but they wouldn't get any points. It would just be for fun.
It would be under the same game just 2 variants checked by triggers when awarding points.
EDIT: Oh and one more thing. There would be a dialog item that selects a building through triggers, which will contain all the upgrades and whatever. That way, people won't be forced to take away from gameplay, but they do have the option to shop. They can shop in between rounds, etc. And you can sell stuff for like 75% or something too? And make like a tech tree of attachments and stuff, kinda like Need for Speed Underground. That would be cool.
I implemented zyffs idea of "semi homing missiles", It seems its much more fun to hit enemies than not to hit them :D.....Just need to test this again. Last test I had 5 testers, but as always I made big mistake on triggers so couldnt really get any results...
So gotta to some testing later, and Now it should work much better!
you cant go out of bounds anymore and cant get stuck
you will get a car and your camera wont follow other cars -_-'
you wont get insane speed boosts from random reasons :D
Now I only have to test I really fixed them :D. Big thanks to all testers who have helped me: hobrow, blub_, zyff, action, dekar, helral and many others!
Now I hope it should be quite bug free...so I can start yet again thinking about making the map more fun. Feels like im running out of ideas, but lets see if I can make the finishing touch for this map -_-' (probly still have long way to go).

It would be neat to have another terrain in this map too like something bright and pretty. Just to change it up a lil
