I was a bit absent because of Cataclysm. The map shot to page 1 but is slowly declining and I hope my "beta test" hasn't soured the name. I'm working hard on polish and refinement of the hardpoint system now. I'm trying to give the cruisers proper collision but sc2 really doesn't seem to want to let me make air units collide. I want the whole thing to feel very smooth, refined and fluid to use before I add more components (though I'm itching to add more fighters, lasers and some point defence turrets).
When I first tried out your map, I was so much hoping that when those BC's collided, they would actually collide, maybe even take damage from it. It would add so much to the map, how you could block the way for each other and such :)
Now, this might sound really wierd, but this is also how most other games physics.collisions work. What I suggest, is with the help of those awesome shape-able regions, to create a region that looks like a bc, from above. Then first attach each such a region to each BC, and then, with triggers, each few milisecond, check if any of those regions are in touch, and then damage the bc's that are. You could even calculate a blow-back, and where they hit each-other to add like a little explosive effect, or some metal-plates flying away for more realism, by using the position and distance between the two colliding bc's..

Is there anything that prevents you from simply 'declaring' the entire terrain of the map to be passable ground terrain and then set the capital ships to be ground instead of air units? Or doesn't the Galaxy editor provide the necessary tools for that?

I want to add terrain in the future. I made a workaround anyway, you can just bash into enemy ships, depending on yours and their velocity, you'll both be knocked back some distance. Bonus points if you have the Titan Engines running.

I like the map very much, played it a lot until today, because it suddenly is not possible anymore to play it, when will it be up again?
Ok here the feedback:
-Are the shield-rechargers meant to work on your own ship? You can just build some of them and keep refreshing your shields.
-How to target modules? havent figured that out yet.
-The map is so quiet, i think we should still hear the sounds a little when zoomed out.
-At the beginning it seems that those who find a nice quiet farming spot will be too strong later: maybe add a little baseincome and decrease income from farming fighters a little. When you just buy 2 big turrets at the beginning, you are screwed and will only get some
credits by your standard fighters.
-maybe 1 or 2 (or more) different baseturrets would give the game the diversity it needs. Im thinking of different turrets like lasercannons, railguns, or beamweapons that need to charge and fire huge damage at a single target.
-When you activate harder shields when you need it, it nearly always leads to your destruction because of the inability to move.
-More livesavers, dunno abilitys that can bring you out of combat...maybe a blink-ability that warps you a little forward or a short invisibility with a huge cooldown.
I'm another one driven here by the fact I can no longer play it XD But I'll throw some random ideas brainstorm style and maybe 1 might stick
- turrets that generate income, i.e. they don't fire or contribute to battle at all
- turrets that boost aspects of the capital ship, e.g. speed, shields, health, armour etc.
- more players, but also let's not make it an assumption that each player needs to be in a massive capital ship. Smaller frigate type ships, more nimble but less power etc. could be an interesting dynamic and fun to play.
- I feel I'm pretty good at this beta and I usually win and one thing I always do is switch off fighters so I don't give away money (not that I'm 100% sure player fighters give cash) nor do I build fighters, I've only heared whinging when someone tried it. Do you consider all these things to be an issue to be addressed?
- In the spawn of fighters have battle cruisers (regular sized ones) spawn occassionally? Vary what's going on.
- turrets that gain a bonus when the ship is stationary?
- a few hard points at the rear of the ship (not necessarily more total)
- I currently find that once someone feels the need to run they will not be able to do so as the opponent can run them down. This feels somewhat counterintuitive and you see people fall into this a lot.
- chaff ability (ship or turret?) launches debris that is hostile but basically innert and worth no cash. Distracts both large and small hard points into firing at it. Should time out to prevent mining
- Mines. If impelemented should be invis and with a lifespan. Don't grant detect to the capital ships though imho (but maybe to frigates!)
Hope you put the map back up soon regardless of changes.
Hey um.... am i the only one currently not able to acess Voidcraft? i keep getting a msg saying the map isent available.... which is kinda anoying cause i wanted to see what the latest update had brought -.-
oh and thanks for the shield battery ^W^ it's awsome xD although i still lose XD
I thought you had intentionally taken it down as I was getting the message "The chosen map is not available to play", which I still get when I try to create game from recently played maps (v0.43 but indeed I can't find it on the Join Game lists any longer.
Can you think of any possible reason why the map was taken off? I can only think of Blizzard banning it, but no reason why they should do it.
Is there a way for you to reupload it make it avaiable again somehow?
I'm taking a break from sc2 mapping. I'll continue to develop VoidCraft and Catalyst in my free time and they will return when they've each had the attention they deserve.

I made a collision system using the force effects for now. I agree, a game like this really needs proper collision.
yeah, you shouldnt have made your map public in such a early version. (thats why sc2 has the private publish system...)
