Well, I've returned after a long hiatus. Strangely, my post of Episode 2 is exactly 1 year after the post of episode 1. That is some sick episode rate lol. But anyway, I've decided to revisit this project after long time off and hopefully this time I can actually stick to the goals I originally intended. I got a lot of incredible feedback the first time around and between just the two episodes I already learned an incredible amount so keep it all coming!
i'm curious why the machinima community for starcraft hasn't really developed yet. there has been a lot of great work with individual clips, but nothing in the form of a web series, which is surprising given that WOW has some of the best machinima series. i realize the game is young, but i'd love to see the community grow a little more given that the galaxy editor is such a great tool for creating easy animation

Spearhead its growth then.
To be honest, it was really great. Really made be think back to the WC3 days when machinimas were a really hot map type to make. Perhaps you could create a YouTube channel specifically for SC2 cinematics, where people could upload all of their works.
Anyhow, I wouldn't mind watching more of that machinima you made.
You can upload your map to the database and check the cinematic catagory, that way people can easily find it. A seperate forum is not necessary, project workplace is best for these stuff.
I lol'd so hard every time the zealot said he'd shove his "lazer thingy" up the civilians's !@#. That cracked me up. I thought it was hilarious. I like how realistic you made the marine, how angry you made the zealot, and how intelligent you made the hydralisk. It makes people like atleast 1 character. I liked them all. :D Good job! Also, it says Episode 1. When can we expect to see Episode 2?
x F-ing D
Great work man =D Hope to see more.
You gonna stick with those characters or what are you planning with this? Now i really feel like making some kind of web series bout sc2 myself, even though i know i probably wont ever make it :p
EDIT: WTF is up with the code of this forum. I cant make 2 *s, -s or _s in a row without making something happen with my text, even when i set my markup type to BBcode -.-
Maybe make an episode with the topic "nerfed beyond recognition" - Mothership, reaper and roach (Anyone who was in beta can tell you that the nerfhammer hit em hard) You could scale down the mothership to make it funnier :) (Make it a small flying disc beside the roach and reaper)
Have everyone complain about how nerfed they got and fight over who of them got nerfed the worst. Would probably be really funny :)
I have a better idea. Make a Pylon, Overlord, and a Supply depot and make them talk about thousands of cousins, overusage, raise and lower, and giving other buildings power. You can make the pylon feel all drained (literally) and make him wish he could have his old sc2 alpha portrait back from the mothership. You can make the overlord explain that he moves slow because he's lazy and he has 16 ling kids. You can also make the supply depot all "dorky" and trying to make puns and knock knock jokes about supply depots. That'd be sooo funny. :D
That was actually quite good. It wasn't laugh out loud to me (though it came close when the Zealot was replying in shock to the Hydralisk's secret). It did provide a chuckle though at almost every turn.
I can't really wait to see Ep2, kind'a anxious as what might get cooked up. I'd like to see these 3 characters continue with the series as they are the most mundane (along side workers themselves) and iconic units of each of the three races. They also sport character archetypes that are much more broadening and available for depth unlike just having units complain over something rather trivial, such as "why I cost 75 minerals instead of 50".
If other characters are to be added, these original 3 should provide the basis for any new comers. The only other character set I see rivaling these three off the start are in fact, the workers. The SCV trying to get a college fund, the Drone evading being morphed into a spawning pool (wants to be a spine crawler instead or something) and the probe, loopy as hell, cannot tell what it's saying, and for some reason? Never really acts like a "probe" accept after 12 supply O.o
I loled at the part where he was talking about the scourge who attacked the fully repaired battlecruiser solo. Actually all 3 of those scenarios were funny cause ive probably done them all.
Wow, first of all, thanks to everyone who has taken an interest and also a big thanks to the moderators here at SC2 Mapster for featuring the video on the main page. I was wondering where the sudden surge of views was coming from and now I know. I would have replied sooner, but I've been working on Ep2 and I thought the thread was dead as I hadn't gotten replied in a few days.
In terms of how when it comes out, I'm hoping to keep a regular schedule for release. I was thinking a 10 day cycle for each episode. I'm a little behind as I've been trying to generate hits for the opener, but I should have the next episode out soon. It's written, just have to voice, animate, edit, render, and upload. Sounds like a lot... well it is a lot lol, but it's fun so it's easy work.
Keep sending all manner of comments, criticisms, encouragement, hate, love, voodoo incantations, whatever my way. I read everything and it helps me keep in tune with whatever the SC2 community (already best RTS community in the world?) is feeling. Thanks again and much love everyone!
Lol...I was thinking of how popular my bumps and the main page video is making this thread, and I thought of...a Think Geek T-Shirt with the sentence..."Why don't you get me something to drink, before I take this thing on my arm, up your !@#!"...and then I gave up. :P

I lol'd.
Whatever you do, wholeheartedly, moment by heartfelt moment, becomes a tool for the expression of your very soul.
@GnaReffotsirk: Go :P well that's good.

Nice voice acting :) I lol several time.
Edit: The 16:9 video is stretched to 4:3 ratio on youtube so anything is stretched horizontally

Well, im working on a machinima movie right now, actually.
That was really good!
Keep up the good work
@redmarine: Go
maybe machinima could get its own section in the forum? that way people would certainly know where to go to if they're looking for help

Lol, I had to watch it again. Couldn't resist. :D The second time, I came up with topics you could put in a sequal that you didn't have.
1. The fact that air units get the good part and the ground units get the bad.
2. "Kills"
3. Rushing and teching
4. Stimpacks and medics
5. What does each race eat?
That's all I have right now for topics. But, If you want characters, here's some.
Cloakers: Ghost;Infestor;Dark Templar
Fighters: Viking;Mutalisk;Phoenix
Super Weapons: Odin;Brutalisk;Stone Zealot
Tier 2: Siege Tank;Roach;Immortal
Tier 3: Thor;Ultralisk;Colossus
That's all the character sets I have. Here's the settings...
Char, Installation, Ulaan, and Aiur.

Good luck with the next one! :)
PLEASE MAKE A SEQUAL SOON! I WANT IT PLEEEEASE! :D
(Bump)
Btw, Davidcraft, I pmed you some ideas for new scenes. I will continue to pm scenes until you tell me to stop. :)
