Oh, the joy of fishing. The peaceful locations, the relaxation... Isnt it great?. Well, in FishCraft, i have been trying to Emulate that same thing.
Gameplay
You all decided to go on a fishing trip to see who's the best fisherman. So, you all get on a ship at Mar Sara Airport, and fly halfway across the galaxy to a random planet called "Earth". There's a great fishing spot with no name, at an unknown place on "Earth" where these fisherman come to fish.
The map contains both Freshwater and Saltwater fish. Also, when i implement it, you can go Deep Water fishing for the really large Fish, to make a nice buck.
So far, there is only 37 different Freshwater fish, some are alot harder to catch than others. Plus, depending on weight, some can even rack in quite a few Minerals when you sell them to B.J, the Local fisherman.
The Game is incredibly simple, as you basically cast off your line, and hope to catch a great fish!
Future
In the future i do hope to:
Add Lures, so specific Lures catch certain Fish.
The ability to change fishing rods depending on location.
A Boat system, so you can Deep Water fish.
Relaxing Music..

Well, for what I understand, I think a really important factor of this map, should be the terrain.. The screenshots shows some basic terrain with trees placed as the only doodads. I suggest you to work a lot more on the terrain, and in this case also the under-water terrain. Also, in your case, play around with the water in the water-editor. You can actually make water look very different, instead of this simple transparent water, with no flow showed in the screenshots.
Good luck on the project :) Even though I am not a fan of fishing, I like the idea :)

I found out that programming (Triggering) this map will take longer than i thought. : / I'll still try and get an alpha out hopefully sooner rather than later.

The UI should be the harder part, but aside from that... you could randomize "good spots" and make people search them by, I don't know, throwing food to the water and seeing if fish appear.
I'm looking forward it (no matter there's no explosive fishing :P). Sometime you want to play some relaxing game, and I think this will make it :).
The map is going to take awhile to get ready, but i hope to keep working on it.
Seems like a lot of just data entry... for the different types of fish and everything.
Seems like a great engine mby one that could be put in an RPG :)!!!
please keep this update I am interested in this, I once made a fish game in SC1 with defilers for the rod.
You could keep better rods which would let you cast your net faster/sooner. lol

Although I am a vegetarian I demand this map on EU nao! If it resembles Zelda fishing just slightly it might be a map to sink hours into.

I have most of that planned Ash4med, its just atm i need to work on my Asylum map. I can get easily distrated lol, and my Asylum map came first.
But don't worry, i have not given up on the map.
