Asylum is a Fixed camera horror map, it is made to scare you and create paranoia. When playing the map, you must use headphones or Surround Sound speakers to get the full effect of the map. You must also collect Documents for Historic Research, so the more you find the better!

Dare to Enter the Asylum?..
The Asylum was founded in 1907, to help the citizens with mental illnesses and try to cure them. The sheer size of the asylum meant that its capacity would be immense, and about 29 years after its opening, it reached its capacity of 1750 people.
There was alot of controversy about this asylum though, rumors were spreading fast. Rumours that stated that it was more of a torture house, people would always hear screams of pain from the asylum. But all rumors were denied, and slowly the rumors started stopped, people started dissapearing. People started getting worried. People were thinking it was more than an Asylum, more like a prison.
Then it happened. A Murder was committed on the grounds, and it was not a patient, but a doctor comitted it. A doctor was killed instantly when his collegue shredded his throat with a bone saw, he stated that the patients told him to do it, as he was Raping the female patients. No rape cases were ever found, nor recorded, anywhere.
70 years later, a total of 312 murders had been comitted on the grounds, each one stating that someone else told them to do it. The Asylum was'nt as safe as it was before. Due to the Asylums location, all the bodies were kept in the Catacombs of the Asylum, which branched of 4 Kilometers of Mazing Tunnels under the Asylum itself. Even that started getting crowded due to a recent plague that struck the Asylum, killing almost a thousand people over 6 years.
115 Years after the Asylums' opening, a large number of files came into police posession by an unknown source, within these files stated torture deviced used on patients to "Cure" them. Some of which they were testing Cures for the plague. These "Cures" turned out to be Blood-Boiling Diseases that spread throughout the Asylum. Alot of the Asylum was said to be Blocked off in certain parts. Police Started Investigating.
2 Years later, in 2022, the Asylum was closed due to inhumane treatment to patients.
96 Years Later, the year 2118, Abandoned and left to Rot, the Asylum stands alone. Urban Explorers still dare to explore the massive complex, but of course there is the danger that parts of the structures may be weakening.
Due to its history, it has also gained the interest of Paranormal Investigators, the asylum gets 2 to 3 visits each month by Paranormal Investigators. It has been decreasing dramitcally, as they dare not to return, and some even getting treatment and in rehabilitation.
No-one really knows whats in the Asylum now.. No-one dares to find out.
The gameplay in the map is fairly simple, there is no enemies, its mainly exploration. And it is Completely Pitch Black, apart from your Flashlight.
But the main focus is to collect documents for the Urban Exploration group you are with, so they can add more data to the Website for Historic reasons. So, the more documents you find the better! Each Urban Explorer will be scored of the amount of documents they are able to collect during theyre time at the Asylum, and will be Uploaded to a high score board.
But there is a twist...
10 Minutes after your Exploration starts, you all fall unconcious and wake up 3 hours later.. You all wake up, confused and Lost. You do not know where in the Asylum you are, and you are all Alone.. You only have with you, a CB radio, and a Flashlight. You need to meet up with your collegues and get out of the Asylum fast!.. Alone and Scared, Paranoia can start to affect you. You need to stay in contact with your collegues to stay sane, or else..
Features
Paranoia - Level, the higher the level, the more insane you become.
CB Radio - Decreases Paranoia, IF someone responds to your call.
Documents - Decrease Paranoia, Find as many as you can to get a high score.
Paranoia
You may see things that don't actually exist.
You may hear noises from unknown Origins.
The higher your Paranoia, the Darker the screen becomes.
When the Paranoia level is full, you will become Insane, Which means game over.

I had some ideas for a "pure horror" action map, with lots of lights and loads of enemies and shit, but since my computer is crap and I can't work with lights properly, I gave up. My idea was mostly about a psychic experiment, where some marines entered a nightmare world were they get randomly teleported to different dimensions of insanity and stuff like that.
Some tips that could be useful for your map, from my ideas:
Make everything dark, and the user have a small flashlight. Should cover his foots and a bit in front of him. In some situations, you want this light to turn off just to scare the shit out of the players. While it turns off, move stuff in the room, teleport him to another place or make lights turn on in the distance, showing scary stuff like monsters or dead people.
While your character is busy using a computer, watching a monitor or something, switch the camera to a something unidentified, and make it advance around randomly, to later, make your character appear in front of him, and make whatever it is advance to him until you press cancel action, return to normal vision and see there's nothing around, or you just switched places with the thing and there's no one in your place, or you see that self die (without reason or shoot by yourself, like, wtf did just happen?).
Make the players fall into a trap and die, to later find they're still alive, and some rooms back. Now they'll have to take the same path, and they'll find the same evidences leading to the trap, and they won't be able to avoid them... but they will survive anyway, or will be directed to a new place just in the end. Related with the point before, you could also make someone watch his own death to later see it was something recorded in a monitor.
As you see, my map focused more in weird stuff rather than typical horror things. I had a lot of cloned rooms, and players were teleported randomly. You could have your group with you, but then, they would disappear, and you would be left alone in a clone room while they wonder where you are. You could also be teleported to a clone room with clone players, and see them die, while they would be like "wtf u mad? we're fine.". I wanted to play a lot with making units invisible to players, so they could see you, but you couldn't see them, and stuff like that. "Where are you player_x! we don't see you! WTF I'm just right here!".
I wanted to trick everyone sending fake messages, that looked like X player was saying Y stuff, too. Anyway, most rooms were weird shit, like a single square tile, with a doodad in the middle, or trees in a corner. I really brought my inner insanity out to make what I made, lol :P. Not your typical room that seems to tell a story, with broken beds and corpses around. My rooms were sick, and in case they told something, it was something sick, too.
I miss playing an occasional intense horror map, Starcraft Brood War had used the tools at its disposal quite well and came out with 2 or 3 disturbing maps. Best of luck scaring the poop outta players lol. OH 1 more thing, for replayability you could use allot of random events in triggers that even players that have played the map 8 or 9 times would not see coming, though I would recommend adding this later and get the map functional.

I see a problem with the pitch-black-requires-flashlight part: You need to be able to run High or Ultra shaders to play this map :(

I see why you don't have any enemies, but in my mind; that takes away from any horror. If nothing is trying to kill me, I'm simply not afraid...
That could change, depending on your Paranoia level....... You could start seeing anything...

In case you change opinion and include enemies, you could make paranoia grow when you attack and/or kill them. Or when you touch them, too.
And yes, I want a video, too :P.
At the Moment this Map is on HIATUS..
I would love to show you Paranoia, as it isnt complete yet. Nor is the Asylum Itself. I may need more Help on the map itself.

I will definetly be adding things like this. Hundreds of Events/Sounds that only ever happen on Random occurances.
