This is my first attempt at RTS and Starcraft map-making. It turned out to be a surprisingly difficult, yet fun, learning experience. The map is redstone-themed. There's 6 expansions (not including main+nat), however not easily defend-able.
Description: The first expansion is easily defendable. Your base holds two entrances, so be aware of any sneaky attacks.
Click the pictures to enlarge them. ops: I just noticed picture 2 is missing a destructible blockade at the south entrance. This is updated in the map, the picture is just a bit outdated.
You can find the map at battle.net by typing "volcanic elevation" in search. Please leave your feedback if you try it. Your feedback is extremely valuable to me.
One thing I'd like to note is that it looks like the back door rocks to the bases are at the top of the ramps. This means that a unit could walk up the ramp and get vision of the top of the cliff. I would recommend putting the rocks on the ramp or at the bottom of the ramp.
Also it looks like doing any sort of early harass on the map would be difficult. For example, there are very few places for a reaper to get into the base.

I've done a few changes, one them is moving those rocks down. I've also widened the ramp to the natural expansion (from middle) and switched the high yield to the middle.
One of my concerns, which I've only heard from one person so far; is that the map is too narrow for zerg. Have anyone tried the map and experienced this? I know the picture can be deceiving, it looks a lot more narrow than it is. Still, it's a pretty narrow-ish map, similar to Arakan Citadel, Discord IV, Extinction, Frontier, High Ground, Incineration Zone, Kulas Ravine and Monsoon.
If this is the case (that it's game breaking for zerg) then I can do some changes to widen things up a bit.
I think the biggest problem, width wise, is the area with the Xel'Naga Towers. Moving across the map forces you to either go around the 1 and 7 o'clock expansions or go through the towers. Either way, the player has to go through some narrow ramps. I'd recommend removing some of the lava and widening the paths through the middle.

great, tell me what you think of the map if you decide to try it. I'm not really good enough at the game to see all the balancing issues with it.
