For those who know and love squadron td (remake of legion td from wc3) you've probably noticed that it was removed from b.net. I've been wanting to remake my version of Legion TD for a while now and have finally decided to do so as of two days ago. I spent literally the ENTIRE day yesterday making the terrain layout, and adding in parts of the score board. But theres still so much left to do, and im not looking forward on doing this alone.
Basically i'm looking for people who know and love Legion/Squadron TD and would be excited to help with this project. I have big exceptions for this map and I plan on making it better then the originals.
A list of whats to be done and already done:
Terrain - DONE by me
Leaderboard - started by me
Custom Armor/Weapons - started by me
2 additional custom resources, Experience and Technology - DONE by me
Unit Values
Enemy Values
Summon Values
Hero (melee hero which can be controlled and is upgraded with Experience resource, in no way is this hero meant to be OP)
Selection screen very much like Squadron TD, where players pick their builder, edit their custom builder, and pick play modes
achievement system, which unlock perks.
Kick ass Loading screen
A cool map name
Still so much more that i can't think of currently. Post here if you're interested. Again, im looking for guys who are very creative and experience, but most of all, excited to be part of creating this map.
2 additional resources, technology and experience. Experience is used along with minerals to upgrade units and Hero. Technology is used for upgrades, like upgrading boss, weapon/armor upgrades, upgrading abilities.
flying units will now actually be flying units, the way its suppose to be, like in LTD
Eco will be different from both, LTD and STD. It won't be as OP as it is in STD and there will be new worker upgrade options. All worker upgrade options will now require Technology along with Minerals.
Tons more races.
Greater re-play value. Unlocking color schemes, hero skins, perks, and more from achievements.
A controllable hero that every player can make. This hero levels up the same as other units. A melee hero only as not to make it too easy, and it will be bound to an invisible unit with the carrier system, as to being unable to move to other player spawns and stealing kills.
More ideas will come to me as i go on making my map.

I have spent literally the entire day working on my TD map for many many days of the last year and a half. I think you'll have better success if you accept that it will take a lot of time to do a good remake to this game. Good luck!
Anyone know why Squadron TD was removed? Did the author do this or Blizzard?
Take the time to at least check out my map, i just uploaded my latest work. It's still not "playable", but a lot more has been done since it's last version.
i set starting gas to 80k so you can play around with the 4 new ways to summon.
2 months from now i'll have a playable beta map up. After that its a matter of polishing my map before its better than STD.
I should have elaborated on my point. STD is terribly made which is ironic given that it is the #1 map. What I was trying to say is that regardless of the map itself, if this doesn't overtake STD (which it won't) then it will disappear into the void of the popularity system. I equate better with success. Unfortunately for you, BNET players have a history of shunning superior maps in favor of the mindless inferior incarnations.
I know you're excited about your remake, but my advice is to ask for feedback from only a few people to get an idea on how you're doing. I don't think it's a good idea to make a broadcast invitation to play your map before it's actually playable. You have one chance to make a first impression, and in the mapping community people don't often care enough to try something a second time if it's not good enough at first.
Let us know when you've got a game to play and maybe I'll hop and give it a whirl. You've got a lot of enthusiasm for this project, so I know that's a good first step to releasing a great game.
That being said, is there anything specific that you would like people to try to test?
Yeah, that's what i was worried about when making my map public. I did it seeking help creating it from others, it was a mistake as no one took the bait.
EDIT*
I just realized the old map name was posted up for those who actually were looking for it in BNET. I went ahead and changed my map back to private, If anyone is remotely interested in seeing it, send me a pm il show you over BNET.

Thats the idea.

Just an update for those who are curious about my map.
Ive got a lot of it done, but theres still tons of values to put in.
The map it self is not yet playable! but check it out and leave me feed back!
search for Legion TD 2 in battlenet!
I promise when this is finished, it will be better than STD!
What realms are you guys on? I just logged in (0700 cet 16.2.2012) and Squad TD was there and perfectly playable :o
However there are several things in SquadTD that I don't like so good luck creating a better alternative. I will dfntly play it.
Pipe dream much?
Not really, STD is pretty sloppily made.
I enjoy the completely non-descriptive tooltips the most, closely followed by afk times that make even a chronic desert strike player annoyed.
