Hello!, im in the process of creating a map but have encountered an issue. I am in need of the Fel Orc model from WoW but no download for that model exists, and on top of that no download exists for the 2 handed axes that they use, so if somebody could import just the Fel Orc and the necessary models and such to make him look something like this http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090726161845/wowwiki/images/0/0b/Shattered_Hand_Executioner.jpg except without the hood, that would be awesome. i would do it myself but i was never great shakes at this kind of thing and i don't have room for my wow installation ATM, plus due to admin restrictions i cannot install anything like 3ds max to rotate the axe or anything.
I realize this is alot to ask, but this model is necessary for my map.
Cant really tell who your talking to here, but if it's me i dont know the exact name of the Fel orc model, although i assume its something like Felorcmale.m3/m2 or whatever.....
its probably not me... but i couldn't be sure.
its its him, then i just hope he follows through and does it, because i am so psyched for it!
What animations are looking for it to have? More animations = more file size.
Here's what I'd do for a simple model, let me know if you'd like some others. Like Spell casts, stunned, etc... I will rename them to fit with Starcraft 2.
Yes, yes that seems pretty much perfect, assuming the standard movement anim would be run, it would use its 2h attack stance between attacks and not revert to stand, then that is all i need!
a little something else, although in the above reference shot he had a hood and a chest armor piece on, all i really want/need here is the axe, the shoulders and the pants and the boots, obviously with the axe rotated properly in 3ds max due to rotation in the editor causing animations to freeze.
So grateful that your doing this! as said before, i eagerly await the outcome =D
if i ever figure out when/how i can +rep people, your on the list!
Ok, a few things to note about the picture you provided.
It is just a regular orc model that uses the red colored skin. I'm not sure if that's what you want or not. You say you want the axe, shoulders, pants, boots, and axe. Some of his armor pieces don't really match. But I assume the pants and shoulders are what you want most. So I grabbed the set and put it on an actual Fel Orc model. I can add team colors to the black area on the shoulders, pants, and boots if you would like. I can also add it to the grip on the axe. Also, I can attach the axe to the hand of the model without you having to do it in the editor yourself.
Absolutely epic! also i dont want the red skin orc, that was just the closest i could get, but i notice the gold pants and shoulders, arent the fel orcs supposed to have silver shoulders and more leather like pants, like so http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20071001010960/wowwiki/images/7/72/Felorc2.jpg , not saying its bad, just a tad confused.
EDIT: i might have to be gone for a while, my parents just came home and are trying to make me leave for a haircut, but i'm trying to convince them to do it themselves. so we will see, just post normally and i'll see it when im back/done whatever.
DOUBLE EDIT: if it is possible to include the dance animation for an instant ability that makes them celebrate, that would be nice too.
Ok i've got my thoughts together now, so to clarify no, i was not asking for that exact fel orc in the pic, that was just to show shoulder color and pant texture, but if this model above already has all it needs i wouldn't say no to it additionally either, bottom line is i am sorry to have confused you, the fel orc with the axe is what i want, the concept art was to show the leathery pants and silver shoulders i thought the executioner pic had in more detail.
sorry to have you "running about" so to speak, i really wanted to get back on yesterday but my older brother had come back from work and ninja'd the computer from me =(.
sorry for any inconveniences i may have caused you, good sir.
Cmon, Daara, it's never too late to start adding specular maps! This one doesn't even need normal - smooth will do its job. Just make metallic parts white, non-metallic - darker. And set optimal specularity.
Ok thanks for clarifying, got really terrified i was confusing and irritating you for the last one and a half days, so i was extra-clarifying everything as much as possible, but enough of that, any idea's on when the model(s?) will be ready for download?
Also so sorry to bring this up, but in the WOW TD arcade map there is imported files for a fel imp model that i can export, and i was thinking i might even put a Fel Orc warlock caster into my map who's main purpose is summoning imps to assist in battle, kind of like a swarm host except running on energy and having a weak melee attack, either a staff or a small dagger. So if you feel up to doing that model thats great, but if not its fine, because i never planned on having a caster in my map anyways.
Yea, I'll help if we meet on irc, I frequently hanging there.
But I can explain right now how to create a specular map: just copy diffuse map, and then use PS instruments like "replace color", or do it manually, just the parts of the texture which supposed to be the metallic parts, should be white. Skin can be darker, clothes even more darker. And that's it.
Usually it is enough to have only a one chanel for specular map, not the whole texture. And since normal map using only two channels (G and A), we can copy the specular map into its R or B channels.
But this simple model doesn't need normal map much. Sure, you can create one, to make all those musculus and clothes parts be popped, but it's not necesssary, diffuse map is good enough to imitate the relief.
So, the question is: does this model need a team color? If it doesn't, we can put specular map to the diffuse map's alpha channel. But if it does, we will have to have the separate specular texture. Though, it can have lower resolution. Because it shouldn't provide any details, only make metallic parts be shiny.
After you have created the spec map, you need to put it in the material. Guess, you're using art tools. So, for "specularity" parameter you pick "Tiny" (which is in fact = 80). I'ts good to imitate a sharp metallic specular light. And also ok to imitate sweaty body.
Obviously, you put specular texture to the specular map of the material. If it's only a channel of other texture, you pick the channel (ARGB is default, it works if you have a separate spec texture. If I have spec map as R channel of the normal texture, I put normal texture as spec map file link, and pick R channel).

Keep up the cool-dudeness!!!
Doing the models is easy. Getting them to the right specifications is the difficult part :P
That's why I'm asking all the questions. If I'm going to do something I only want to do it once :D
Thanks for the quick reply!
Since the previous info displayed on this post is now defunct, thought i would replace it, but anyways...carry on.
ANIMATIONS
Stand (3 Variations)
Run
Death

Attack2H (2 Variations + Special)
Shuffle Left/Right
EQUIPMENT
(Silver if possible)Shoulder pads
(Silver if possible)Pants
2h Axe
ADDITIONAL
if possible, dance animation so i can make a celebrate instant ability
if you have the time, concept art based F-orc and caster F-orc would be epic too, however those are not at all required or expected.
would not like any teamcoloring, and speculars are not required. and once again the gold color works just as fine as the silver although silver is preferred. OR, just put both pants+shoulder skins in the download and i can choose in-game if thats possible.
EVEN THOUGH IT MAY SAY I AM OFFLINE, IT DOES THAT EVERY 20 MINS SO DONT THINK ANYTHING OF IT.
Good job, just one thing. Light is fucked. It's 90' to the direction it shoud be. Imported WoW models usually have this problem. You need to apply "Normals" modifier to every mesh with "Unify" checked and "Invert" unchecked. Than collapse it. But add it not to skin, but to mesh, no not collapse skin modifier too.

To super-clarify:

That
with, if the skins exist, a silver skin for the shoulders and the pants.
If this is not possible then just keep the gold skin, it looks great either way =D

I knew what you meant I was just showing I could do the exact same as the concept if you wanted.
And zolden, be in the irc chat when I start working on it. I want you to give me a step by step guide on how to do it correctly.
