Like, looking at the front page of popularity, all I see are a few AoS's or other PvP stuff, some arena type maps, and Defences. I guess the closest thing is the roleplay map, but as far as I understand there's not really a goal in it.
It just seems that most maps are about fighting other players, or fighting with players against AI. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of just playing at making something work, like getting a city to run in SimCity. Is anybody doing this sort of project?
I can handle most data, as well as triggers, but I'm really lacking in ideas. Most of what I've thought up is implemented, but there isn't enough. There are some large-scale ideas that I have that might require an additional triggerer, though.
There'd be a need for terrain, but its mostly after I have all the gameplay implemented.
Black and White still had some combat elements, but yeah, its probably a solid example. Problem is I haven't played it, so it would be difficult for me to handle something like it in SC2.
I use to have Black and White 2. The game wouldn't work for whatever reason on my PC. But I think I fixed the problem and the disc ended up lost so I can't reinstall it :(
Never got to play it. Probably would have been a good game to remake.
Contrary to the votes, I decided to make the SC2 version anyways. With the new system I am working on, it can update live across the servers and into the game itself.
Oh that was the point your "global bank"... I get it now :D
Frankly, there are very few games like that. Most people would rather launch shotgun shells into the face of a guy standing 3 feet away than solve a puzzle.

Feel free to Send me a PM if you have any questions/concerns!
Your map certainly seems to be ambitious, but its using some pretty unique ideas on how to succeed that I'm not sure will go over well, as well as relying on technology that doesn't exist yet.
I'm not sure that's something I could help out with or do on my own.
Basically, you start off with a city center and build out from there. You can just place building anywhere, but people take longer getting around and you lose impressiveness. So instead you build roads and the buildings sort of snap to them, making people get around faster.
As poplation rises, you need more homes in your city. There is a city store which holds your resources (food, ore, lumber) and the people will use the resources to build things.
The wood is found around the map in the form of either spacious woods or dense forests. The Ore is found in mines. And the food is grown from fields, which are build, or fished from the ocean.
Lumber mills can process wood and help you get more of it, wonders allow you to preform massive spells that can do a veriety of map-changing effects, altars and temples are both very impressive, and your source of mana (used for godly miracles like rain and healing.) Houses come in a veriety of sized, bigger and more impressive ones costing more, while smaller and cheaper ones can decrease impressiveness if used too often. There is also a sort of 'in-between' house that is cost-effective with little impressiveness.
Impressiveness increases with population, buildings, and town decorations like fountains and wells.
For a map like this, I feel the 'god' and 'creature' could be cut out...
Without god that sounds like trade nations for the ipad which is basically farmville but using a town which farmville is basically sim city but using a farm. So I guess it's basically sim city.
I get the feeling that by cutting those two out you're losing the purpose of the entire map.
If you don't have them, what's the goal of the game? Sim City itself is one thing, a SC2 map that tries to be Sim City might be fun until you succeed at it once, and then there's no interest in it anymore because its lacking an end goal.
Okay, what if you had a flying unit and a ground unit or something.
The ground unit could be given orders, such as build, entertain, impress, or battle.
Build would have him building whatever the town needs. If population is to high, it will build houses. If impressiveness is down, it will build decorations.
Entertain will have him wander the city and keep people's happiness up with various tricks.
Impress would have him go to other cities and impress them in various ways.
Battle would have him fight another 'creature' to kill it for a limited time.
The air unit would be under your direct control. Using it, you sould set down roads and mark where you want certain things build, at which point the citizens would begin to build them. You could also preform 'miracle' such as summoning extra wood or ore or food, healing your creature if it is hurt, ect.

I would like a SimCity-like map too. I didn't seen anything similar around.
Somebody made a Harvest Moon map, then dropped it.
I started work on a version myself, but couldn't find anybody to help. I fear there's no love for this genre.

Well... I'm actually looking for something to work on, wanna team up?
Gimme your IM and we'll talk.

Mafia is a good one that's more about brains than brawn.. Somebody should make a gameshow map imo.
My issue is that Mafia is still about getting the other guys killed off. Its a very elegant form of PvP, but its still PvP.
Have you ever played Black and White 2?
You can play the entire game by building cities and increasing your "impressiveness" until you win.
Black and White still had some combat elements, but yeah, its probably a solid example. Problem is I haven't played it, so it would be difficult for me to handle something like it in SC2.

I had a similar story. I bought the first one, but my computer's specs weren't up to par, so I had to return it.
But enough about BW2, anybody have some other ideas?
I am working on a game like this.
