Are you guys shitting me? Has no one even started on a decent Enfos?
It is the single most awesome Custom Map ever created for any game ever and if someone could make it, it would definately be one of the top maps on all of the servers.
For those who do not know what enfo's is here is a little explanation:
The enfo's map is a hero team survival.
Units spawn in two lanes which converge into a single hallway inbetween two shops which then splits into two lanes again that surround the plateau that has the reagent shops. The goal is to survive for as long as you can. You lose life when creeps reach the plateau on which the reagent shops are. Your hero has lots of levels and 4 spells. There are shops to buy reagents/weapons.
Not realy. In enfos you can actively fight your opponents with your spellbringer (or however it was called) a building that allows you to cast offensive spells on your opponent (stun, dispell to remove buffs, spawn 3 waves higher monsters to defend yourself or to attack your enemy, feedback), while in HLW you have to send units. That brings me to the next point, in enfos you don't have a regular income, you have to kill the spawning monsters to get money and each team gets the exact same number. While in HLW you get the majority of your income via the income that you generated by sending monsters to your opponent. Therefore the required APM is also way higher in HLW that in enfos. While there are more, I think that those are the most important differences.
Not sure what an inspiring map would be to make? Most of these "inspiring" maps are nowhere near the top of the bnet list. Enfos on the other hand would be:) Not sure how hard it would be to make an enfos either though.

It's one of those maps that alot of general bnet'ers love, but not exactly the most inspiring map to create for a mapper.
You should try Hero Line Wars by Kueken: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/hero-line-wars/
It is somehow similar to Enfos.

Just try....
Enfos is pretty simple... just lots of data editing really... good for learning...
@SouLCarveRR: Go
Followed a guide on the simplest tower defense.. took me 3 hours and it didn't work:) After that I ragequitted

3 hours isnt nearly adaquete to learn anything sufficient......
before entering any tutorials I would suggest you learn the tools you will be working with a bit.
Jumping in to a tutorial when you know nothing to start with is kinda a waste of time....
and you shouldnt need a tutorial to teach you how to start working on a TD
I would make an Enfos asap, I fucking loved them.
But making heroes with the SC2 Data Editor is a pain in the ass.
I wish someone remade Rabbits vs Sheep, too. I started to, but data editor made me leave it.
