THIS IS NOT A PICTURE OF THE PROJECT - this is a Battle Zone 2 screen shot
The game consists of two teams. Each team has a nominated (voted) commander that plays from a birds eye view perspective and is in charge of controlling workers, building a base and issuing commands/strategies to their team (because they have the benefit of a birds eye view). The rest of the team are given control of certain units. They control them in 3rd/1st person.
What I would like to see is almost like the old games by Activision - Battlezone 1 & 2. But instead of the player being in charge of both economy and building, they are purely focused on fighting. The commander will choose what sort of base to build up & create UNMANNED vehicles/units. The other players spawn as marines/zerglings/zealtots (the basic unit depending on their race) then they 'jump' into the newly created units. If the units 'vehicle' dies then they 'hop out' as a marine/zling/zlot and continue to fight (if they die they have a re-spawn timer which could become longer as the game progresses) . I believe that the units should be made to be a little stronger than usual other wise dying might be too quick. I also think that balance will become an issue if you only have say 6 people on each team controlling units. E.g. 6 players in battle cruisers will rape 6 players in vikings (depending on micro of course). I believe that to counter this, the player/commander should be able to add units to their group or increase their units strength so that they aren't disadvantaged. This is a difficult thing to work out.
I think this game has a good mix of strategy/team work and could make for quite a fun game which allows for lots of tactical strikes from each team leveraging off starcraft 2's variety of units. There could even be room for the current unavailable units like firebats, lurkers, daimond backs, goliaths, spartans etc.
What do I think? I think that it looks like a really really good project and I'm loving that HUD, especially the bubble map. Can we get some gameplay to really tell what it's like?
I'm sorry for the confusion. That picture is actually from battlezone 2! I lack the expertise to create the map itself, i just have the idea. I am looking for someone to develop a map with this design in mind. Again, sorry if for the confusion.
I can't wait for this trolling match to heat up. BAHAHAHAHAHA.
Anyway, neat idea. I loved BZ 1 and 2. The problem is that 3rd or 1st person anything in SC2 tends to be horrible and not fun in any way. And not just because of the lag issue. Good luck though.
