I would like some feedback on my map...here's the description from the project page...
"In this map you will have the ability to control a hero, run around and pretty much do as you please.
The map is currently in beta version 1.0
The map has a few key features...
The Randoms - Almost every aspect of the game is randomly generated. All civilians walk around pretty much aimlessly, but some randomly create a structure near them. There's also a merchant, school, college, and a company that are all also randomly placed on the map.
Night and Day - Unlike most maps, this one features a night and day system where at night there are over 100 pirates constantly overrunning the city while at day the city is laid back and fairly easy to play.
Hunger - The heroes are constantly hungry all the time and the only way to feed the hero is to be inside of something. On the map you can have a house or a car and these both feed hunger, but you also can pay a fee to hide on the hotel on the right side of the battlefield.
Merchants - Merchants when near them allow you to pay for different upgrades and can even be paid for a pet or a car. Cars are super powerful and can run over most enemies. Pets unlike the car can be infinitely spawned but are also expensive.
Quests - The game also features random quests between 15 different ones. The quests will either ask for you to find an item, talk to a friend, kill an enemy, kill multiple enemies, or collect some money. Once completed, you will gain a reward.
Houses - Houses or mansions that are randomly built may also be selected to be purchased but for a 4000 or 6000 fee. They can be hidden inside of to replenish hunger.
Cops and Pirates - Cops will chase you down if you attack neutrals or cops. Pirates however kill you no matter what, but won't hunt you down.
Bounties - Everything in the game can be destroyed with the exception of players and civilians as well as a few other neutrals, but buildings and all enemies can be killed for money.
More features to come int he released version!
I am currently hiring people for the release. No, not for payment, but you will recieve credit for anything you do. The positions available are...
-Modeller
-Voice Actor
-Spell Creator (DATA)
Thanks! The map is currently in beta and is called Immortal: Sci-Fi Evolution BETA or just search for Immortal. Thanks again for your support and for reading this message!"
Yes I am recruiting as well, but on this thread I simply want feedback. If you WOULD like to help out, just PM me.
I've updated the map several times with a few versions...here's what they are...
V 1.0
Found out the hotel dialog was mixing with the quest dialog.
Released with all content.
V1.1
Fixed the dialog bugs, but found that there were bugs with the quest system still.
V1.2
Fixed all known bugs.
Made heroes invulnerable when they speak to a quest giver.
Made a notification for when a new quest is available.
Fixed the loading screen.
V1.3
No bug fixes
Debuffed car by a lot.
Hunger is now slower than before.
V1.4
Car's life is now 250 instead of 300.
Car now regenerates 2.5 life per second and has a delay of half a second.
Car now requires atleast 1 unit in its cargo for it to function.
A bug has been fixed that caused the dialog for the pay fee to hotel to not go away when the button is clicked. This only occured for players 2-8
When learning from a school or college and then going to a company, it now gives 10 minerals instead of 20 for school only graduation and 20 instead of 80 for college and school graduation.
Here's a little preview for you guys on the released version. This is simply the base terrain for a new area. No doodads except for trees atm. Pathing is set so you cant walk through trees. In this area the first act is played. In the first act you shall fight pirates. Normally these pirates are fairly low in number but during quests there will be more and stronger enemies as well as bosses.
Another Update- I've prettied up the first area with some additional paint and all I need to do now is pretty it up with doodads. I've been working constantly on this large area prettying it up down to the tiniest detail to make it as polished looking as possible.
So far, merely the city was the impossible part and I was blown away at how easily I created it. The next impossible is getting a modeller...the most impossible is getting 100 spells, all units having custom models, and getting an inventory of 200+ items and lots of space for items...the terrain is complete for this area!
Finishing the map really just depends. It depends on how fast I can get people to help me out. There's things like spells that I simply cannot make by myself. I guess if I don't get anybody to help me within a month or two I'll have no choice but to release a beta 2.0 with some of the additional things I want in the game discluding the story. It only took me a few days to build what's already in the game right now, but to get a modelling program, a working mic, a program for editing sounds, and learning the data editor, it'd be years before completion. I guess I don't need models, voice actors, and spells, but they are essential to making the map that much better. Raynor is merely a placeholder. I wanted the character to be less...raynor... Enemies don't need models, but I'd like a better boss than the thor...thor is an overused boss...and the civilians are supposed to look like they've advanced in technology as the game passes and that just won't work with the 1 civilian model available. Anyway...the map needs 2 months before most of the work I can finish will be completed.
Well voice acting isn't a problem, i got 2 dumbass brothers that can help with that, the problem is learning how to record it, and getting to to work. I can get that for you, I was asking about the modeling because im waiting for Blizzard to release their modeling package, and then Im going to learn how to use that.
Would you or anybody you know be able to speak in a deep voice and then modify it?
More Screenys! This time I'm working on the southern area. This is the ruined city.
i have a deepish voice, and i can learn how to alter it, there are user friendly programs out there that can modify things like that easily, save it as a Mp3, then take it and use a better program to convert it to the proper format.
Note: what kind of Dialect do you need.. that could be a problem, I have a strong Southern accent, my bros have it less though.
It doesnt completely matter the accent, but I simply plan on all the voices simply being dark powerful godlike immortal voices...hence the name of the map. Here's several characters in the game... (Hint: Sneak Peak)
Immortal (HERO) - This character has 1 altered godlike voice before the game begins, but after that, he has a regular human like voice. The voice may change to either a deadly godlike voice or more of a heroic godlike voice...so yes lotta variations...
Civilians - Accent for this absolutely does not matter a single bit, but is the least needed voice in the game.
Cops/Bandits - Both sound exactly the same. Usually they sound like they're on the radio. Accent doesn't matter for this either.
Bandit Lord - Accent doesnt matter yet again. Has a deep voice and coughs when laughing.
Guardian - The guardian to the gates of immortality. This voice echos and is very deep. Accent might kill this character.
Dark Lord - The dark lord is supposed to be the final boss. Similar to the guardian.

i just spent 10 minutes with the voice editor, Its very easy to use, i can do everything you need with it.
Excellent, so...would you like to be my official voice actor? I don't think I need more than 1 person. I'll send you a PM when I finish some script...I haven't exactly prepared for this...lol...
Edit: Oh and do you think you can make a video for my map soon? lol It's been several days.

oh lol I forgot all about the video Thanks for reminding me, Yeah i will go in game tomorrow afternoon and start recording. if you want what you can do if you plan on adding any other kinds of units, open your map and hit save as, and use another name, then add any unfinished characters you want unless you just want the cops and the bandits to be it. Its completely up to you. I might go in single player and just use God mode so I can stay alive, but Ill defiantly do that tomorrow.

hey, congrats on just making a map at all... i TOTALLY gave up on that, but that's just because of school...
good luck, and i would agree that little details make all the difference, whether in gameplay, directing quality, or terrain.
don't be afraid to add that "impossible thing" to the map. i was, and it made my maps suck

What all do you need models for?, and how long do you think it will take you to make this map?
This looks like a highly promising map, I'll be sure to check it out and throw in my two cents afterward.
