I would like some Feedback on the terrain I made for my upcoming Diablo like OARPG (Online Action Role Playing Game). I started this a while ago and I'm quite satisfied with the results, but I want to know what others think about it =3. I'm aiming for a terain that make people wonder what story is behind it or wondering how what's in it. This is just about an quarter of the map.

You could just leave it as ARPG, and everyone would be happy.
By the way, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside when someone tells me they're working on Diablo-like rpg. Good luck on project and I hope that you'll need testers soon ;D.
And the terrain is good. I just hope that you'll have big secondary areas to explore (I dislike being stuck between cliffs all the time).
If you want to apply the Diablo-feel, remember that the visuals in the game must be very dark, bone chilling, and you must not be able to see what lurks around the next corner.
Personally, I'm not impressed with the screenshots you provided. They're very light, the terrain seems very unfinished as if you just wanted to get the terrain done in a hurry, and turtles....? I know your game isn't Diablo directly, but turtles...?
I'm sorry to drop a bomb on you, but I rather want to be straight with you and hopefully it will improve your map.
I strongly advise you use the "Cliff" tool less and instead use the "Height" tool. When used properly, and correct textures are applied to make a destinction between levels, these terrains look much more believeable.
The Zeratul mission in Wings of Liberty has - in my eyes - many of the building blocks a Diablo-like game would need. Cold darkness, mist, cracks, unforeseeable obstacles, etc.
I wish you good luck with your map. You're welcome to PM me if you have questions or need second oppinions. :)
The crystals are way to bright. Definitely agree that you need a darker tone overall. Bright objects doesn't always mean spirit. Pale colors is more likely to feel spirit-like. I'd switch out the textures for bluer tones. As a rule of thumb, if the colors are starting to blow out in your images, it's too bright.
Kinda Wasteland
I like the feel of it, but two things really stick out to me: the trees need to feel less healthy. They are way too green. Palm trees in a wasteland doesn't make a lot of sense. Also, the jagged rocks below the terrain looks good, but you need to match the edges of the cliff to this. Right now the terrain has flat rounded edges which doesn't feel realistic. I'd mess with the height tool to sharp the edges out and even toss a few rocks along the edge to match the jagged rocks below.
Abandoned Shrine
I honestly can't tell what's going on here. Needs more light on whatever the structure is in the water. Also, the grid lines on the texture looks awkward.
Shiny Lake
This feels rather empty. Needs more foilage. Also, the water looks more like a river than a lake.
Forest Point
I like the color tones here, but this needs more trees to be considered a decent forest.
Rocky River
This is probably one of the better terrain segments. I like the rocky bridge, but overall it feels rather underwhelming. Maybe deepen the river and add a lil' more light to length to the bridge.
Turtle Forest
As with the previous forest, it needs more trees.
Overall I think you've got a nice set of texture colors, but they feel more vibrant than foreboding. Deepen the tones and flesh out the terrain with more doodads. You don't have to spam tiny doodads by any means, but ignoring the terrain textures there is a lot of empty space.

Are these seemingly arbitrary verbs you stuck infront of "RPG" needed?

If that annoys you yes =3

Hmm well I'm not realy aiming for the theme(Dark, grim), or many buildings. I'm more kinda aiming for the ARPG style.

Thx for the feedback, I will look at the things you said. All though, it was kinda intended to make the Abandoned Shrine dark. =3

Ok. Maybe the "Diablo like" in the thread title threw me off ;)
Hoping to see some more soon :)
