I love metal. So much so that I created this post. If you do too, what bands do you listen to?
At the time of writing this, my top artists (according to last.fm) are:
Pain
Dark Tranquillity
Hypocrisy
Arch Enemy
Amorphis
Behemoth
Insomnium
Scar Symmetry
Devin Townsend Project
Amon Amarth
Turisas
I recently bought the box set 'Contain Us' by the Devin Townsend Project and have been listening to that for a few weeks.
Earlier this year I attended Soundwave an saw Turisas, Gojira, Kvelertak, Meshuggah, The Dillinger Escape Plan, amongst others. It was such a good day! At the end of this month I will be going to an Arch Enemy concert which should be pretty good as well.
Since I live in Australia, it's generally pretty rare to get a band that I enjoy listening to to tour here. I hope to travel overseas to Scandinavia in the future and attend a bunch of concerts there.
1.Trivium
2. Nothingface
3. Mudvayne
4. Static X
5. System Of a Down
6. Bleeding Through
7. Godsmack
8. From Autumn to Ashes
9. Slipknot(getting old... fast)
10. Wednesday 13th(not murder dolls, i hate them)
11. 36 Crazy Fist
Not metal but still great.
1. Ac Dc
2. Scouting For Girls
3. Sick puppies
4. Korn
5. Mindless Self Indulgence
6. Guns N roses
7. George Thurgood
8. Bon Jovi
I would consider some of those bands metal, like AC/DC and Korn, even though they are less heavy than the stuff I tend to listen to (ie death/ black metal).
Lamb of God were at Soundwave, but they clashed with System of a Down so I didn't go and see them. System really did put on a great show.
I did sit through Slipknot who were on before them because I listened to them when I was a teenager, but I didn't really get into it.
I used to listen to Marylin Manson as well. I tried to get into his newer CD's but it didn't compare to his older material so I gave up.
I pretty much listen to Metal exclusively, in almost all it's forms, Nu/Progressive/Doom/Symphony/Black/Death/Trash/Sludge
Cradle of Filth, Mudvayne, Disturbed, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Korn, Godsmack, Lacuna Coil, System of a Down, Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Static X, Mastodon, All That Remains, In Flames, Iced Earth, Trivium, Dragonforce, Chimaira, Soil, Deathstar Assembly, Bury Your Dead, Satyricon, Samael, Hermh, Fear Factory, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Bloodsimple, Kalmah, Kataklysm, Dark Tranquility, Tiamat, Hammerfall, Dragonforce, Nightwish, Candlemass, Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Ministry, Shadows Fall, Amon Amarth, Soilwork, Quo Vadis, Rammstein, Mnemic, Mushroomhead, Nine Inch Nails, Meshuggah, Spineshank, Hatebreed, God Forbid, As I Lay Dying, American Head Charge, Drowning Pool, Annihilator, Sepulture, Chronzon, Born of Thorns, D.D.T., Dark Army, Kaul, Kekal, Lucifer, Mizradeh, Noctuary, Serpents Aria, Veil of Anguish, Wehrwolfe, Willow Wisp, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Symphony X... that's what I've got in my music folder. I'm sure there are a few more... but I cannot think of them right now.
I'm not sure each of them can be considered "metal" so to speak, but here's my current playlist:
3 doors down ; Apocalyptica; Dragonforce; Evanescence (...what a joke compared to Nightwish!); Iron Maiden; Marilyn Manson (not fond of it); Metallica; Muse; Nightwish; Nirvana; Offspring (I think I haven't listened to them since I'm 16... but it's still there!); Powerman 5000; Pro-pain; Puddle of mud; Static X; Sum 41 (not listening to them anymore either); System of a Down
...And I also have some albums from Rammstein (German group), Noir DÃĐsir and Lofofora (French groups, but Noir DÃĐsir can't be considered metal). My favorite at the moment is Dragonforce and I always enjoy listening to Metallica a bit. I used to have some albums from A Perfect Circle as well as Cradle of Filth, Disturbed, Slipknot, Korn, Godsmack (prince of persia soundtrack), Lacuna Coil, Fear Factory (messiah soundtrack), Rob Zombie, Pantera, Sepultura,...
Nothingface is a bit older then Papa roach. they formed in like 96 or 94, Thats the softest of their songs. i just actually like to hear singing in my music.
Wikipedia says they are around the same time however (Papa Roach formed in 1993 and Nothingface around 1994). Not that it really matters much. They both belong to an era whose end was deserved.
ah, misread the papa roach, i thought it had said 2000.
Never could get into that bands music, Always thought it was too mainstream for me. Always sounded like the same crap that everyone else was playing. Disturbed, Cage the Elephant, Manson, etc.
OH not really considerd metal, I think its actually considered Techno But this one song from them is pretty good

How is Lamb of God not on here? Anything but their latest Album. Clutch could somewhat be classified as metal? Suicide Silence... :D Marilyn Manson!

@VoidPotato:
If there ever was such a thing, Trivium is 100% true Metal, They have Dark stuff, Light stuff, and Metallica Sounding stuff(WAY BETTER though)
Nothingface is alot like Mudvayne
I hate deathmetal, its too depressing, metal is about rising up and sticking the man the middle finger, not slitting your wrist...
@Taintedwisp: Go
Death metal lyrics typically aren't about slitting your wrist. At least none of the songs I listen to are about self harm.
Arch Enemy typically sing about revolution and anarchy. For example, these lyrics are from the song Nemesis.

I think We should stop listing bands, and just list their best songs :D, Because lets be honest, no band has every song is great...
the only real song with some real meaning to life :D
Industrial / Techno Metal from the musical genius that is Peter TÃĪgtgren.
Melodic Death Metal / Awesome - My favourite band, Dark Tranquillity.
Only metal song I've ever cared for. Something about it that I just love ^^
Morbid Angel, Death
