I see some people have issues with guns that have instant effects, no launch, just damage, and now I am too. Simply, where can I change the sound effect of the marine's gauss rifle? I can't find where it is being used.
Oh I see, but where in the marine/actor for the marine is this being referenced? I need to make a copy of this for my new marine unit, but like.. Where does this even go?
The attack launch sound is at: Combat - Launch Assets
The impact sound is at: Target - Impact Map
If you want to make a copy of this to use it for a different unit then you'll have to modify values in: Event - Events
When you open it you can see the line: Effect.Marine.Start (The "Marine" does not stand for the unit, but for the damage effect).
This line causes the actor to appear everytime the marine damage effect shows up, so basically every time a marine attacks.
Change that into Effect.YourDamageEffect.Start and it'll appear for the referenced effect.
You can also make it appear for multiple effects by just right-clicking and adding a new Event/Message/Term and manually dublicate the Effect.Marine.Start.
Lol ok I actually found it in another thread. The Attack actor for the marine is housed in some far off location, called Marine Attack which is an action actor. It isnt referenced in the marine, but it references the marine in itself telling it to work for the marine. Now I made a copy of it and renamed it and assigned it as the attack effect of my new unit's effect for it's gun and now it has an effect again. I just need to change the sound effects.
Thanks for your attempts, but I have to admit, I'm getting really frustrated with people trying to explain things that really just sound like "yea its that thing that you put in that place".

Well, it usually IS just a question of a certain thing that you have to put into a certain place to make something work ^.^
Nvm still won't work. I had to make a new sound actor, that uses the sound set, put it into the marines attack sound but it still just plays the marine gauss rifle sound. Wonderful.

@TartarusMkII: Go
Under the actor: Marine Attack
Most (all?) units have them, even if the attack is "instant"
