Well, I know that there are several ways to revive heroes and I have searched for them here on the forums, but what ways have worked for you? I've tried two different triggers and both of them have caused occasional bugs such as hero not receiving items on revive or hero never reviving.
So really I'm looking for other people that have used triggers successfully for hero reviving with attributes and items.
Looking at the first 2 minutes of that tutorial, it looks like he actually lets the unit die. The simplest (although possibly not the best) way, is to never let the hero die in the first place. You can do this either in the data editor (Raynor, Tychus, Swan, and Egon(sp?) all have a behavior that does this and Kerrigan(Char) also has a "do not die" behavior) or the with triggers (Event: Any unit takes (fatal) damage Action: Modify Unit invulnerable. I've never tried the trigger based approach so you may need to fiddle with that a little.).
Then, you can check for fatal damage or the incapacitated behavior and:
Change ownership of the unit
Teleport/Cloak it
Play a death animation or explosion to make it look like the unit died.
Sorry for the delayed reply. The problem is that my heroes are losing their items 50% of the time on respawn.
I did mess with the trigger a bit to get each hero to spawn at the right start location and I added a building requirement for respawn, so that may be the problem. I also removed and changed a few things, but nothing that should stop it from working. I'll try refollowing the tutorial step by step again, but I don't really think it will fix it. I'm really guessing it is getting lost in the spawn point or unit requirement part...
for the items part you might want to make sure that no spells are actually killing them while they are being hidden .. its very easy to miss screening items when making your damage spells. (exclude hidden and item)
hmm not sure what else could be causing the glitches.. this trigger is merely a temporary solution for the item drop on death bug, hopefully with the new patch blizz fixed it so we dont need to worry about item drop on death anymore.
I'd be interested in knowing what bugs my system has too.. since I'm using it for my own RPG...
It re-creates all items back into a hero's inventory. If you use any item-pickup-specific triggers, it creates a thread per item per trigger. This quickly adds up to the thread cap.
So will this not work for my map? Heroes can buy items at shops and at max they have 6 at a time... Now I'm also hearing reports of items randomly disappearing during the game. : / Don't think that has to do with revive trigger though.

@ndudz: Go
I found this tutorial extremely helpful, and my implementation worked right away... :-)

That is the one I am using now. : / Causing a lot of bugs in my map.

Onetwo's way works 100% fine for me. What "issue" is it causing?
I would be interested in the bugs, too.
I haven't done that much testing yet :<

There is the trigger I'm using if anyone wants to take a look. : /
I'm also being told that heroes now randomly stop reviving for no reason. : /
Also, a related question:
Does anyone know how you can have achieve a hero revive system like in warcraft 3?

How many threads can be handled?
