Hey I am attempting to make my own RPG. At the moment I am working on the terrain and doodads I have just been wondering If people would like it. So here is the map send some feedback on what you like or do not like about it please. Oh and one more thing the terrain is not completely finished yet ill post the finished terrain/ doodads and see if people think i should change it more.
I'm at work right now, so some JPGs would be nice.
And you have to watch out with the map size! As far as I'm concerned the maximum map size at the moment is 20 MB. You are already at 14,5 MB.
Ok well I cut down on the map size a heck load and lowered the mountains some and magically its now not a supermegaultra lagfest (still lags some) All i did was add some more doodads after resizing may b I need 2 cut back = /
Well I dled the first version and am quite impressed. I created a unit and checked our the map. I really like the design of the quest hub (I should assume.) though I didnt get a great look at it because the closest I could get to 3rd person was zooming in :p. Also, at a side note Havong huge mountains doesnt mean units cant walk on them. If you want I could send you of a screen of my ling on top of the tallest mountain. xD
Yeah i know i haven't added pathing to the map yet without pathing it doest matter how high you make the tallest peak ;p. And about the quest building this is going to b a 3rd person map so people can look around the buildings.
I guess I have 2 cut back on map size even more i guess.....
I need help on cutting back please send in comments on how i should cut back.
Oh and one more thing this map is better looked at in the editor.
The 10mb limit is just ridiculous. It gains ppl who make fast remakes of some old td from wc3. I dont see why blizzard would want you punish hard working people like you. :/
I'd like to let you know that in preferences you can adjust the saving style to optimize for a small format. If you save like this it will take a lot longer to get the map saved but your file size will also be smaller. I suggest checking that out before cutting.
On my own map which I have recently started on this saved me at least 13% saving size. Though I am very far from finishing and the optimizing for small format might work different from data editor to terrain to triggers it should at least help.
what is taking up all that space? I looked at your map, and to be honest it seems fairly sparse? I didnt play, but still... Unless you have alot of custom models in it then i just don't know how you could get 14 mb on a map sized that small.
may b its the high section of the mountains making the map a little larger in tallness than normal may b if i lower the mountains i could shave off 2 MiBs? may b its because I'm using Raynor from the AM units and Annibele and they may b taking up allot of space with the very high amount of graphics on them.
Hmm i tried that and its still 14.3.... don't know whats wrong..
oh shatbox up the butt i 4got all aobut that stuff lol u just solved it man.
Even though I cant upload it 2day because of the 30Mib limit per day i can tell its smaller because it saves a hell load faster. LOL now its 1.6 Mib instead of 14.3 thanks LinkD for thoes who are curious about the map iv'e been working on it some more. I have taken some of the triggers from resurgance defense and modified them for my use. It has a cool way to choose your hero but i don't have the start game button working yet. Hope people are looking forward to Starcraft 2 RPGs =D. (sorry apparently this map is not working properly ill re post the working version when i figure out what is wrong)
What I meant with 'save optimize for size' basically. If you are in the editor press the File button all the way to the left where you normally open/make new map etc. There is a tab with 'Preferences' if you click that you get into some sort of editor option area where you can go to 'documents' and then click the radio button to 'optimize for file size' I believe that's what it says. It makes saving take a bit longer but I think it compresses files or tidies them up since it lowers the file size a bit.

Oh I think I was wrong. It is 10 MB / map and 20 MB / account which would mean that your map is already 4,5 MB to big :(
