If any of you play Call of Duty: Black Ops, there's a bonus level which is a throwback to 80s-90s style top down arcade shooters, and all you basically do is point and shoot at zombies. It gets fairly hectic in the later levels and I honestly find myself playing this game with a few friends rather than the regular online.
It would really lend itself to SC2, I think... once the mouse tracking is smooth. Here's a .
I thought about taking on this project, but in all honesty it would probably never get finished. Anyone have any interest in doing this?
That's like this other game called Dead Nation or Zombie Apocalypse. I wanted to make something like that but then I learned that the units can't run back and aim and the running and aiming mechanics would look weird with the units probably doing run animation but moving another way making him look like he's floating.
Turrets, man. All you really need is a turret. Make your base unit completely invisible, give it a turret that looks like the marine or whatever base unit you want to use and there you go, problem solved, pretty much.

chop the marine model in half, have the top half as a turret that can only sweep 180 degrees with respect to the unit's facing direction. Done. xD
