Overview
What is Seismic Square?
Seismic Square is a new generation Tug of War map. The idea is simple: Combine Tug of War and Hero Arena into one game type, while staying away from the DOTA gameplay that many people have grown to hate.
What is the goal of this project?
To bring the BNET community a new and unique genre of gameplay that has just enough blend to create an enjoyable experience for players who enjoy a variety of genres.
What makes this game different from similar existing concepts and published content?
I have heard, through PMs and a comment below, that there is suspicion that this game will simply be a clone of many games that are currently released on BNET already. This is not the case. For more information, please refer to the "Gameplay" topic.
Gameplay Overview
Core Concepts
Fast paced action with an APM you don't see in any other Tug of War game.
Diverse gameplay, with many upgrades and tech paths to choose from. Cominations allow for quick and effective tech shifts that allow you to once again gain the upper hand by countering your enemies
Target selection allows you to choose the player you want to attack.
What Do You Mean by "Mixed Gameplay"?
You get to play the type of game YOU want to play.
Hero Arena: Focus on and upgrade your hero to your heart's content. Research new abilities and skills for your hero, while killing enemy creeps and heros.
Tug of War: Focus on spawning the right units, researching the right abilities, and climbing the proper tech tree to counter your opponent.
Micro Style: Micro is your strong point? Tug of War isn't right for you? Well never fear! Research the "micro" ability for a structure to cause the structure to train "AI Implants", or controllable units. You may then micro these units to victory! (For an example, simply think of a Marine Arena structure)
Macro Style: Do you like to turtle, hoarding back resources until the last possible minute, then striking back with the huge army your economy has built? Do you like risky "expansions", taking resource locations to get you ahead economically? Well once again, never fear! Tactical positions across the map allow you to gather resources. The more harvesters you have at a location, the more resources you get! But just like in melee, once you get too many, any additional harvesters become useless, so you must expand!
Tower Defense: Wait what i don't even? Yes, that is correct. You may upgrade spawners into "Strategic Mechanical Biomass's", which will cause units to spawn at the target location (within the range of your base) and become unable to move. Units such as this will have a smaller unit cap, but will be more powerful.
How on EARTH is that going to be balanced?
It works in a rock paper scissors fassion. Think about it. Micro > TD > Hero > Tug > Macro > Micro
What will Seismic Square Need?
Data
I will be doing a lot of this myself, and will only need a second pair of hands. You only need to know the basics, as I can guide you through the rest. As a data editor, you will most likely be helping with the following tasks.
BASIC hero creation. No inventory, no items, nothing like that. Just leveling abilities and what-not.
Upgrades and behaviors. You know, data stuff.
I might ask for some help with making some abilities when I don't have time, but I don't think that would be very often.
Other random data stuff.
Triggers
As a trigger editor, you would be doing primarily dialog work and setting up cameras. Spawning units and and other gameplay altering triggers will be done by me unless, once again, I don't have time. As a trigger editor, you would be doing the following.
Dialogs <===== IMPORTANT
Cameras
Functions, Action Events, etc
Simple unit spawning/modifying triggers
MAYBE some actor manipulation, but I will most likely be doing that in data
Terrain
I actually already have a fantastic terrainer, thanks Yeti :)
UI development
Just be able to make a simple custom UI using the Aiur Chef method. This is the one area that I know nothing about, so you are on your own for this one :) I will tell you what I want, but I won't be too picky about it. The standard UI is just so... Bland.
Models/Textures/Icons
This is not 100% necessary, but if someone would be willing to make a couple of custom icons that would be great. Unless you have a couple of custom models complete with animations stand, walk, 3 attacks, 3 spells, and death in your pocket, don't worry about it.
Cross-Region Uploads
I need someone to publish on SEA, and someone to publish on EU. This is obviously not something I will need until the game is out of BETA, but it is something to think about.
Cinematic
Once again, not super important ATM. When the game enters BETA, I am going to need someone to make a cool cinematic game trailer for the game. If you are good with making cinematics, please sign up now so I know if I am going to have someone that can do this. This is, being something I am really bad at, one of the most important team members I require.
Web Design
I need someone who is experienced in PHP, Javascript, HTML, or anything else that can make a fully functional website. The domain name and server have already been purchased from GoDaddy.com, so you must know how to make compatible code for their servers. As I will not be giving actual access to my account, you must send me code in Notepad or Word or other similar format for me to Copy and Paste into GoDaddy.com. You must be able to do the following.
Make a Shopping Cart
Make a Forum
Make different pages
Make interactive pictures and designs, in Javascript or other similar language
Advanced user data (Think of this site, with signature, teams, etc)

Hey everyone, so I am leaving to go out of town today and will not be back until Tuesday. If possible, I would like anyone who is at ALL interested in joining in on a project to post their info and experience here.
A couple notes
You don't have to work when I ask you to, it is totally up to you
You will be given full credit for what you do, and may be granted space on the loading screen or tip section to advertise your game, if you are making one
You can work at your own pace
You will not be payed, but as I mentioned, there are other rewards besides helping out on what I hope will be a great map! I will be posting footage soon
Note that this map is NOT in conception anymore, it is in Alpha. There is a fair amount of work that has already been done on the map. This map WILL NOT be abandoned. I have been working on it for 6 MONTHS on and off. (Probably a total of 2 months work, but much of it was done while learning the editor, so some things had to be redone and whatnot)

Not quite sure what you are getting at. I am doing 90% of the map myself, just asking for a bit of help with some things that I don't have time to do, or am not the best at. (Terrain and UI mostly)

I am looking for a team of a lot of people I can rely on, not necessarily one person per position. If I need something done and my one data man is offline, I am SOL. So instead of looking for 1 devoted team member for each position, I am instead looking for a bunch of people I can ask to do smaller tasks.
Of course it would be nice if I had a devoted "lead" data man, and devoted "lead" trigger man and what-not, but I feel that having a large team is more efficient and more effective. The only reason I would want a "lead" team member is so if I needed help from someone who really understands the map, they would be there to help.
So moral of the story, if you want to be a devoted team member, (this message directed towards anyone reading this) that is totally preferred. The point of the thread is that having 5 hours of free time a day to work on this project is not at all necessary.
