Our team (Team Genesis) is currently developing a map called Star Party. It is our take on the Mario Party franchise. In this map, we would like to feature a large amount of MiniGames (MiniGame types: FFA, 1vs.All, Teams). There are two modes, one for classic Mario Party gameplay, and another for MiniGames only. The MiniGames only mode is what we would like to focus on right now, and add a large amount of MiniGames while the board mode gameplay is being developed. More information about the game can be found in the project homepage.
What We're Looking For
Making MiniGames (polished and fun, mind you) is time consuming work when trying to make fifty of them. Our engine makes it pretty simple to add MiniGames, as it is designed for the immediate use of other mapmakers in the team. However, we would like to focus on other aspects of the map rather than filling it with MiniGames, which is why we're looking for people who are interested in donating MiniGames. We feel that allowing anyone to contribute work to this map would be an efficient way to push a fun map into Battle.net. Authors of the maps will be shown when their map is previewed, and may promote themselves or their maps in their MiniGame. We hope that the general concept of the map, that the "MiniGame Only" mode, will constantly be in a state of finishment, making the possibility of abandonment unlikely.
How it Works
Interested mappers will recieve a template of the map (not containing donated MiniGames, only ones there for example). It will contain the engine and directions for construction. The engine provides many helpful features to make mapping easier. We request that MiniGames are mostly made via triggers (and data through Catalogs) but exceptions can be made. Existing terrain may be used, or new terrain may be constructed. This is not intended to come across as "give us your work so we can get credit for it" but rather a way for mappers to express content too conceptually small for its own game, and without having to make the effort of preamble, while recieving credit for it. Contact me via PM if interested.
Our Experience/The Team
Each individual in Team Genesis has differing amounts of experience in various areas. I am the most advanced trigger editor and have taken the lead in this project. We are constantly on Skype together and actively communicate to resolve every issue we come across, as well as build maps together. If you'd like to see other maps the team has made, feel free to visit the homepage or PM me, or any other member. Anyone is also allowed into our Skype chat to preview what the team is like in case of being interested in joining. We are one of the largest and most active teams on SC2Mapster. We are also always willing to help out newer mappers, so if you'd like to work on a MiniGame for us while recieving help and instruction from on, that is a great way to preview how the team works and if its a good match for you.
Fuck yeah!
I wanted that somebody make a project like this, a big map where people can make 1-2 of their minigames in it.
I will be happy to add 2-3 minigames!
its going pretty well, Ahli made a dialog tetris game, Ducky is working on Falling Tiles (an old BW map), We have your dodge the creep, and then Cherry's tank wars and tag, and then I made over 6 or 7 so far....
if you are any good with abilities you could work on a game set in the same arena has your other game where you shoot missiles at each other with push back trying to push them to do edge where there is lava or creep or w/e to hurt them. and maybe also giving them a shield ability as well.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
-Dev of Mineralz Evolution
-Dev of Poker Defense
-Dev of Poker Defense 2.0
-Dev of GridFall (RTC Map)
-Dev of Battlegrounds (RTC Map)
Yeah, so I did manage to convince Ducky:D
I will make my own ideas:) can you send me the latest editable version?
(I will probably add some more creep related games)
Anyway, this is a pretty cool project and a chance for some worthwhile community activity at last. An opportunity for all of us to come together and join our efforts to make something great, something that will be spread and enjoyed by others, something that will last. A wonderful collection of our styles and knowledge, of our individual ideas of fun, without conflicting with each other.
I honestly want this to succeed. And it was an interesting experience, making something quick and cool, finishing something without the need for it to qualify as a stand-alone map project. Was certainly worth the time, and would bring me much joy to see others join.
So best of luck guys. If I have time and idea, I'll be sure to contribute more.
oy it sounds intense and fun. I played a minigames arcade a few days ago and i kept losing lol. plz do not make any typing games lol that is where i just sat and watched myself lose.
Im waiting for my brother to reinstall sc2 so we can play melee. his gf uninstalled it.. so ill throw some ideas.
pac man. with a rolling baneling.. or start out as a zergling and with certain pick ups he instantly becomes a baneling with increased speed.
Metroid. I saw something like this done. camera at a side view and arrow keys for forward, back, jump, and duck, space for shooting.
mmm donkey kong is similar except that u had an ability to switch back and forth between diddy kong and the other big guy. each had their advantages.
i saw the duck hunting profile picture above and thought that it would be fun if your computer was touch screen. certain killed ducks (Mutas, phoenix) would leave pick ups that would allow for increased firing rate?.. more leaks? etc
I know one of our editors had attempted to make a pong.. hows the success on that? could easily plug that in.. would be cool to see the "paddle" turn into a viking and shoot a few missiles at the other player. if the players paddle was hit=to missing the ball.
i also know that frogger was considered seriously but failed for some reason, time, motivation idk.
Okay so I came up with 5 interesting minigames that could be a possiblity
1. Ship Battles
- Player gets a ship
- Ship turns and moves slowly
- Ship can only fire out of the sides and in a straight line (Projectiles)
- (Possiblity 1: Teamwork)
One player determines when to fire and what weapon to use
The other determines where the ship goes and what angle it faces
The ship captain sees the map while the gunner sees the weapons of choice
- (Possibilty 2: solo play)
Each player gets their own ship, fights to the death.
2. Lost Viking
- So Tetris looks really cool
- Following the Tetris example, I was thinking of the Lost Viking
- The Score or last Viking standing would determine the winner
3. Hold out Minigame
- Small survival game where you make sure you (and your team) win
- Small things here and there make it harder for the other players (team)
- This way each team focuses on survival but "allows" the other team to die
4. Red Light Green Light
- Pretty much self explanitory
- Red light everyone stops
- Green light everyone races to the finish
5. Search and Rescue
- Each player starts out with a unit (Ghost or something)
- The goal is to collect most of the runaway sheep (Zerglings)
- Hostile Wolves (Zealots) can attack and kill players
- Players can kill other players or steal already captured sheep
- Time limit sets winner (3 minutes? 5 minutes? 20 sheep? 15?)

@Hookah604: Go
Your map was a good addition! Still looking for more, Team has input a bunch more too!
@Charysmatic: Go
send me a copy and I'll see what I can come up with, also, you should change the game UI. put some borders on those no-border buttons.
@EchoedRequiem: Go
The UI you see in the screenshots is the unpolished UI, after we get the map ready for release we will spend time to make the UI look great.
We have about 6 mini games in the map so far and counting.....
So how it is going? If you guys want 1 more mini game from I am ready to make one.
@Hookah604: Go
sure what do you have in mind? we are at 10+ mini games atm
I have nothing in the mind, I just wondering how its going.
