Here is a definition for you; "miserably inadequate." Pathetic is of course relative. Personally I would consider cleaning toilets as miserably inadequate. Someone else wouldn't.
No such game exists. This is not black and white though. There are shades of grey. There is a huge difference between a game that uses skinner box to add replayability to a good core and a game that uses skinner box as the core.
No, it's very black and white.
No (PC) game is productive. Zero. None. With that eliminated, you can safely conclude that the only reason to play games is to elicit satisfaction.
Games like Minecraft appeal to our basic hunter/gatherer instinct. Satisfying.
Halo appeals to our sense of fight or flight. Satisfying.
WoW appeals to our attraction to roles within larger groups. Satisfying.
D3 appeals to our sense of repetitive rewarding. Just as satisfying.
It goes without saying that different people favour different satisfaction from their games. Saying one form of satisfaction is "pathetic" just because you find it boring is naive.
Games as a concept evoke our basic instincts. Calling D3 exploitative for it's skinner box style is no less retarded than calling Halo out for it's evocation of fight or flight. Those are the very things that make them good games.
Ahh, but would it be possible to create the ultimate experience game that included ALL of these satisfactions in the same game? The Skyrim MMO they are working on sounds like it will include quite a few of these, any others you can think of?

O REALLY? So all satisfaction is the same? Guess those pedophiles are off the hook then. It should be obvious that satisfaction is not created equal.

Can you tell me one thing in life that doesn't evoke our basic instincts? Bet you can't. D3 is exploitative because of the skinner box style. It purposely exploits a weakness of the human mind for certain individuals. This is called addiction. Games like Halo do not elicit this kind of response.

I take it English is your second language? If you read the quote the context clearly indicates that I'm talking about levels of satisfaction. There are different types of satisfaction. Duh.
"I find golf pathetic. Why not watch paint dry on the wall? People who play golf for any reason other than making money are pathetic. I hope you guys realize that sports companies are actively using competition to pray on the weak of mind. Google "exercise addiction" for more information."
Do explain why this is more or less retarded than your diablo statement. I can't quite tell for myself, what with my second class English and all. It's hard being Korean...

I didn't realize Golf consists of doing literally the same thing over and over again for an immaterial reward. I guess if you played the same hole over and over again with no friends it might be a little similar. Except that you would be outside and getting exercise. Hell, you might even meet someone random in real life.
You mentioned earlier that games only offer immaterial satisfaction. That's true. Which is why taking enjoyment from mind numbing repetition for no real life benefit is pathetic in my book.
I'm a little confused here, what is this conversation even supposed to be about? Based on the current conversation, I propose the title be changed to: "The Dangers of Mixing Periods and Worthless Topics".
I keep trying to read the convos but i keep seeing futurama robot dude dressed as mario in taintedwisp's sig and it makes me lol, so I keep failing. So what exactly are we talking/raging about?

You called anyone who disagreed with you "pathetic" because you personally find it boring. It's basically identical.
No, it's very black and white.

Here's my plan:
1) Pass Junior year
2) Go to Alaska for a month (search NOLS and go to Alaska Mountaineering if you're interested to see what it is, it's pretty cool actually)
4) Apparently I skipped 3. So step 4 is create step 3.
3) Make up for step 3 and 4's lack of content by splitting step 5 into 3 parts
5a) Take Chemistry
5b) Go on vacation
5c) Finish making map, maybe.
6) Probably fall out of a tree again
Great to be back and part of the community again!
I did? Can you quote me please.

Not in the StarCraft universe. But we both know you're not Korean.
