You guys are real diablo players. I got the server error most of the time I tried, but leveled a monk to 12. some abilities were just useless. I think my life dropped below 2/3 only against Leoric, and only the first time I fought him (fought him again to get an achievement). I didn't play much compared to you guys, but I did like the enemies' models and I hope to see them converted to SC2 soon, I dont know why but I cant open the MPQ files ;-)

The game was holding your hand from the start, there is no choice being made. This is deliberately made to introduce casuals to the game. The real customization is moved toward endgame with gem and skill affixes when player have an idea of what they're doing and will not screw up. Some people might not like it (myself included), but building is still there, and they've made a solid system. It might not be the dream game that we wanted, but that's why we're designer ourself.
Other than that, the game look gorgeous, killing and looting was satisfying. I love POE's mechanics but on this part, it cant even compare (combat really lackluster).
I might have wanted more hardcore/time grinding D3, but now I realized I dont actually have that much time to commit to it, it sounds like a perfect fit...
@Dogmai: when you talk about boss giving less and less loot, I believe its only giving you good drop the first time you kill any boss with a given character. Any run after that will probably be the normal drop table.
Oh! One thing that I think they should have done.... Heal Potions should be auto pickup just like gold? I mean... having to click a Potion to pick it up is lame. They're beneficial. It's not like it's random loot that you don't want to pick up.
True enough I suppose. There's a solution to it, of course. Why can't they have a filter for potions, quickly accessible on the main bar. You just click it and select which potions you do not want picked up. They are all enabled on character creation, and as you progress to higher difficulties, you can remove the lower potions from auto pickup.

Sounds exactly like a white item filter once you got pass lvl 10 (or higher since amulet didnt drop at lvl 10). It may sounds useful but I doubt they will ever implement something like this. Their design deliberately goes out of their way to recreate the loot pinata experience, where most of it will be useless not even worth picking up (remove salvage white, low sell value for white etc...). By dropping (and showing) more useless loot, the good one stands out and feels more rewarding. If loot only drop very rarely once in a while, and nothing else drop inbetween, the experience will be more boring.
I played D3 for like 10 min, got bored and left. The chat is so damn small, nobody talks on it, and there's nobody on the city to do some social like Diablo 2 had. I have to confess I miss D2 social, and because of that I'd much rather host D2 lan parties than D3. So yeah, I guess I'm not buying D3 right now. No lan parties, no social and no mod making, there's pretty much nothing to do besides listen to the story and click click click. I guess I'm getting old.
Most likely that poor chat channels was for the beta, the Real channels will most likely be alot different, I would expect the actual game lobby system to be better.
I like playing games to learn about others, to see others doing strategies and understand how people think. When I played D3 I felt like I was wasting precious time. Pretty much like playing Call of Duty. I used to enjoy this click click click click games, but now I feel that I'm learning nothing. Maybe I'm getting too old. I'm already older than my dad. ಠ_ಠ,

Actually, now that I think about it it had more actual real social features than games nowadays since it actually required you to BE with the other person in other to play with them :P
From what I've read about the latest update (I checked right after the end of the open beta weekend), your friends in SC2 are now also accessible in D3... it probably also means you can chat with or invite them from one game to another, and it's even more likely that the chat channels will work the same way in both games.
HELL NO, i hate SC2 chat channels, they are the same as the D3 beta channels.

Not really, I felt you had to use actual teamwork when I played with teamwork we killed the skele king on our 2nd try at lvl 6
I spawned animals and used Darts for damage, My brother Froze him, and the last guy would run up attack, and run back when he stopped being frozen.
and remember THIS WAS A BETA, the game will be 100x better, the act felt really short though, so I hope that their are alot of acts maybe like 15-20, plus dont forget this was on the lowest difficulty, it wasnt even on Nightmare, or hell, and I think they have a new setting past hell too.
Blizzard said that even the Inferno mode is beatable by yourself, and that co-op in Diablo 3 is just extra feature ("for fun")
They also said, Inferno will be hard, even in co-op, and they definitely want to encourage co-op play. The game should still be solo-able by yourself, but it will probably take much longer and will be a lot harder and require way better equipment to do so.
Also, Coop gets 4x drop for 4 people, while spawning way more monsters, and, despite the monsters having more health, you kill a lot faster ( judging by beta experience). So you overall get more gear faster, and for an organized group, you can share specialized drops. So co-op will most likely be the most efficient way to play by far (not to mention probably way more fun); and if even this way, Inferno is hard to deal with, it will be almost impossible in singleplayer at first.
As far as loot goes, keep in mind that your DII experiances probably involved a character with +alot % chance magic drop after having played some time in it. After all, the majority of your time in DII probably wasn't spent with basic gear, it was spent with good gear, and it is likely that old players (like myself) stacked %magic drop.
I got my %magic drop on one of my heros to about 50% and noticed the difference. On that character I picked up 3 rare drops (not including the freebie from SK), and a solid amount of blue drops from trash mobs and destructibles.
The same thing applied with stacking +xp. On my first run through my toon capped at 10 and a half levels. On another playthrough, I purchased +xp gear from the AH and got my character to 12.
Overall, I am pretty happy and will probably get this game day 1. My only concern is that it grows addictive but not fun. I think, as far as abilities go, they did a really good job with the heros. The Demon Hunter is probably my favorite, because setting caltraps, jumping, and rapid fire is just so damned fun.

I share that feeling. I only played with the Hunter during open beta and I enjoyed her skills a lot. The level up system makes the game really addictive, but the genre itself is so repetitive that even D3 will be boring at some point. To be completely honest, just playing the beta was already kind of boring, past the first 3 levels I encountered almost no challenge with my Hunter. Getting the follower a little bit later makes the beta even easier to beat, you'll never get hit except by some archers. Even the skeleton king was easy, I dodged all of his attacks easily (there is an ability that makes you move away very quickly) and kept spamming him with arrows from afar thanks to the rapid fire ability. But I expect the official game to be better and tougher, more balanced than what we've seen this weekend.
I have one question though, in case any of you has the answer... Will we be able to keep our character(s) from the beta version when we'll have the official game? I was kind of proud of the magical items I had in my inventory so I'd like to know if this character is saved somewhere so that I can use it when I'll buy the full version of the game.
I would agree that the beta was indeed a bit boring, once the feeling of "HOLY CRAP I'M PLAYING DIABLO 3!!" wore off. But I'm not worried at all. As I always tell people: You are playing the first third of the first act on the easiest difficulty. It's going to get seriously hard and more challenging as things go on. Blizzard has also stated that this first beta bit is intended to be a tutorial of sorts, and they intentionally gave you very little room for diversion and made it quite easy.
