I think I'd prefer to play Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, in that order. Witch Doctor doesn't seem very appealing... and the Demon Hunter? Really? That's the 5th class we've waited a LONG time for to get revealed? C'mon... Assassin with a bow, basically. No thx.
The moment I buy the game, my little brother will steal it and play it until he dies or breaks the game. :D But seriously, I was shocked at how Blizzard designed these heroes. They made each character mix between multiple characters. Example: Monk is a Paladin/Assassin mix. He is a Holy/Deadly hero. If I were to play Diablo 3, I'd be the Witch Doctor first, then beat the demons to a pulp with every other character once I have a level 99 Witch Doctor. :D
Edit: The reason you may not like one class over the other, is your style that you use to beat demons with. For example, I like to create a small army, and help them out in a battle. I'm kinda like a commander sorta player. This was why I liked the druid and necromancer. And since Witch Doctor is a Necro/Druid mix, of COURSE I'm going to play that one first!!!
Ima say one thing. And that's style of gameplay. If you really have no idea which character you want to play, try this.
--------
Wizard (Slot 1) - A powerful mage that can warp even time itself. The Wizard focuses on the elements of pyro, cryo, and chrono. (Fire, ice, and time) The wizard is best played by players who like to reverse the tide of battle from a short range away. (A ranged player who loves using lots of mana)
Witch Doctor (Slot 2) - A mystical and magical master of the tribal magics. The Witch Doctor focuses on the elements of Necromancy, the mind, and dangerous elements such as fire and poison. The Witch doctor is best played by players who like to control what their enemies do and what weapons should by used to destroy them. (A ranged player who can summon creatures and deadly spells)
Demon Hunter (Slot 3) - A very deadly and quiet killer, the Demon Hunter watches his/her prey and strikes when the time arrives. The Demon Hunter uses surprises and the most deadly tools to kill the most powerful fows and finish off the weaklings. The Demon Hunter is best played by players who like to handle any unpleasant surprises with surprises of his/her own. (A ranged player with tools to escape or destroy anything)
Barbarian (Slot 4) - A very proud and honorable hero who loves to tally his/her kills. The Barbarian loves to take an axe, hop on top of a fallen shaman and beat him till he is only a pile of guts. The Barbarian is best played by players who like to quickly get into action and bash the enemies and keep them on their toes. (A melee player who likes to jump into a fight and handle everything his/her way)
Monk (Slot 5) - The most holy of all men, the Monk wishes not to fight, but will shread through any demon if he must. The Monk will wait to be challenged and then, with his inner power, strike a thousand times in a heartbeat. The Monk is best played by players who wish to cast spells and weapons at the same time. (A melee player who likes to fight and cast spells in one hero)
--------
Edit: Yes, I did type this all up by myself. It probably took half an hour. They are good explanations of how each class works.
Well, Demon Hunter looks nice, except for the weapons. Cross-bows suck, they do not have style. Give that girl some decend shurikens or throwing knives (or any other throwing weapon for that matter)
Monk is a concept I really like, will be probably my first char.
Witch doc looks quite fun, but is definitely missing the style the necromancer had. Necro was my all-time favourite, WD will have a hard time replacing him.
Wizard... well... its a sorc. Probably changed the least compared to d2. Decent but nothing special.
Barbarian looks way more fun now. Blizzard said there were plenty of things to improve with this char and I agree. Will see how it worked.
I did not play d3 in any form, so its pure speculation. I like a char, when he "feels" good, when playing him is fun. Thats not entirely up to the char, but the possibilities of builds and their effectiveness/fun factors. As long as I did not play any char at least once, I am not able to say, which one I like the most.

I'm afraid that the necromancer will most likely not come back. Blizzard will most likely not make the necromancer come back in any expansions, but perhaps they will make other summoners later. I was hoping they could make something similar to a beastmaster to bring back the druid in a new way, but that's hopefully in another version. Sorry. :(

lol
I know all this is very subjective. I on the other hand found dual-wielding crossbows really cool and would like to try it out first hand! Maybe having been playing as a hunter in WoW for years makes me prefer ranged weapons more.
I don't know what to play considering that the Paladin was by far my favorite class in d2; and honestly the monk is too shaolin-esque for my taste and the demon hunter is just...well, consider the logic of trying to use two pump shotguns at the same time, its the exact same delusional fantasy with dual crossbows.
Well, I did like my necromancer as well, so I might give the witch doctor a try first. I sure do miss the dichotomy of the necromancer and paladin being on the same team though.

Blizz announced the last Diablo 3 class recently. I think it is the last class, right?
The 5 classes are:
Wizard http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/wizard.xml
Witch Doctor http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/witchdoctor.xml
Demon Hunter http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/demonhunter.xml
Barbarian http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/barbarian.xml
Monk http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/monk.xml
Which one do you like?
I want to play as a Demon Hunter first! (Of course, I am also going to have at least one character for each class. :P )
On Diablo 3 launch night, I'm gonna sit at a friends house with 4 other friends and play 'til we drop. And I'm gonna be the Wizard :).
It's going to be legen-wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next part is DAIRY! Legendary.
I think I want to play as witch doctor or wizard...I might like wizard abit more, so wizard!
Played a warlock in WoW for 3 years. Easy choice; sorc... wait, wizard!
Actually, is any of the 5 classes a pet using class like D2 necromancer?
Witchdoctor uses pets, really cool dynamics with them.
I'll likely be rolling a frenzy barb. My favorite stat to boost in an RPG is run speed for funs.
Me too.
Im least hyped about the "monk" . I dont find it very much appealing;p

I actually think the Demon Hunter class looks pretty damn epic.
I'll be giving it a shot, dual crossbows all the way!!
