Well as the magazine shows about, it looks like another killer instinct could be on its way, The timing would be about right, seeing how the smashing success with the amazing Mortal Kombat 2011(SF SUCKS lol),
Also a quick prediction of the future, I see FPS GENRE dying and soon the Fighting game genre will take over and get over saturated.
But yeah it says a Killer sequal reboot, Sounds like another Killer Instinct, I have never been a large fan of the series, but I would like to see the Fighting Genre get some love.
Wow. If its true, this is so win I can't even find words.... Personally, I LOVED KI as a kid, and would love to see it brought back. Thanks for the info.

This. I knew all of the combos. All of them.
Man, Killer Instinct revival, I would have nbevr expectetd to read that.
Howvwer, the magazine cover implies anything but that. A killer sequel could be killer & part 2 or smth. Or not even a game with killer in its title.
and it says reboot, The only other game that would have really qualifyed would have been Killer 7, But seeing how the rights to killer instinct were bought a couple years ago. Im guessing its going to be killer instinct.
If I can find the company I can confirm all.
Couple things, First WB has a studio with over 200 developers in it that is not currently listed on a project, PLUS said developer used to work for MIDWAY
also if you go to killerinstinct.com This domain is reserved with DomainDiscover. Website is coming soon.
That was posted, but everythig else looks like a newer form like it was just put up this year or the last.
When people say it's a killer app is more about how powerful it is to draw people to acquire the platform is awas developed on. That gives me no much hope tbh.

Hows midway related anyway? KI was developed by Rare.
Because Midway held Partial Rights to the killer instinct franchise...
But anyways heres another peice of information( i admit i was wrong about the midway part, but in my defense midway did have a hand in KI)
Main article: Killer Instinct 2
On March 16, 2010, Rare's Kenn Lobb announced that they are not working on Killer Instinct 3, but that they may bring Killer Instinct back someday.[9] On July 25, 2010, Kenn Lobb said Rare wants to make Killer Instinct 3
@Mozared: Go
yeah, i see CoD ruining that Genre and soon, I dont know if you have noticed but people are starting to turn away from the genre, the say way they did from the guitar hero genre, having bi yearly games.
@Mozared: Go yeah, i see CoD ruining that Genre and soon, I dont know if you have noticed but people are starting to turn away from the genre, the say way they did from the guitar hero genre, having bi yearly games.
... what?
There's so many things wrong with that post I don't even know where to begin. I'll try it systematically.
1. One line of games is NEVER going to ruin a genre. Even if all CoDs released from now on are the worst games ever made, that will not kill the FPS genre. At some point someone will make a good title that'll take over, and until that happens folks will stick with older games.
2. People are starting to turn away from the genre? Source? Extra information? Anything? The only thing I think you can be referring to here is the idea that MORE people are turning to gaming, which means there's a relatively smaller amount of FPS players with more RTS, SIM, MOBA etc players.
3. At the last MLG, people could compete in 8 different tournaments. One was SC2, one was LoL, and other six were FPSs. The one before that had a 6/11 ratio, and the one before that a 4/5 ratio. FPS has been the core of E-sports for a while now, and I see no reason why that'll change anytime soon.
4. You're comparing... 'people leaving FPSes' to guitar hero? Guitar Hero was a hype. People are still playing it, probably as much as they used to if you'd bother to conjure up the numbers. It's a party thing. It's just that there's less commercials and all coming out for it because by now everybody has some version of the existing party games that offer all that's needed. Combined with the fact that no new consoles have been released over the past couple of years (no Playstation 4, so no need to buy a new guitar hero or such) just means there's less media coverage, that's all.
Not to be a dick, but your claim is waaaay off the board.
Im just saying from what I've seen, Its how the gaming industry is, One genre will rule for a little bit, until its over saturated Like the FPS is going right now.
And a new genre will take hold.
My best guess would be that either the Fighting Genre or RPG genre will take hold next.
And dont fear, the FPS genre will have its turn again in another 10-15 years when something Groundbreaking happens
I say RPG or Fighting because two Groundbreaking titles have ben released for both in the past year..
Skyrim, and Mortal Kombat. Both games are what people think about when you mention their genre now.The way Halo Revolutionized FPS.
Just a theory, And i wouldn't think that the FPS would go out until Id say 2nd Quarter next year.
and I didnt mean that it will die out, Im just saying no one will really care about it anymore for a little bit. and we will see less games being developed for it.
Im just saying from what I've seen, Its how the gaming industry is
So really, basically, what you're saying is that's your own little vague prophecy what will happen. Just saying that this was your response to someone wanting numbers and sources.
I say RPG or Fighting because two Groundbreaking [...] Skyrim, [...]
Was their anyone who didn't just stop playing after a week?
Start of RPG/Skyrim rant.
The only time i can accept RPG elements is when it ofcourse makes you better but also requires more gaming skill as you progress so that not only your character progresses but also you. For example that you and enemies scale together, not to confuse with a thug taking five arrows in the head to kill i mean you get harder enemies as you progress. Maybe perhaps new skills that actually add some flavor to the game instead of just getting 20% "better". The fighting was also totally and utterly broken, you stack up on valuable items and potions which no one has the money to buy and it encountered several of the same problems as Oblivion did.
So really, basically, what you're saying is that's your own little vague prophecy what will happen. Just saying that this was your response to someone wanting numbers and sources.
Tbf, a lot of this discussion is based on general feeling and articles, so I wasn't even looking for a database of reliable numbers per se. Just something to back up the claim of "People are starting to turn away from the game" which kind of came out of nowhere to me.
Regardless, Wisp has kind of changed his point; 'fighters will kill FPS' is a point that I really can't get behind, but 'fighters will probably rise and FPS might see a slight fall' is something I can get into, even if I think 99% of that can be explained by an expanding playerbase and growing E-sports world in general.
Will stop dragging the thread off-topic now though. What is Killer Instinct anyway? I feel like I've completely missed a nostalgia-game.
To expand on what Taintedwisp said: Killer Instict was a combo based fighting game, one of the first of the 16 bit era to incorporate 3D models in it's character. They, of course, were not rendered real time, but instead pre-rendered sprites that did a good job of faking the 3D look. It came out around 1995 IIRC.
It was a standard side scrolling fighter, common for the era. However, the focus of the game was combos. Combos, combos, and more combos. It had an ingenious system for linking special moves together, making large 40+ hit combos commonplace. It was rather easy to learn the moves of a character, but finding the best combos was requires a lot of testing. Also, it was the first game I remember having a special move just to break combo's. "C-C-C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker!!!!" became such a popular sound byte, that it still is used quite a bit now as a meme.
It also had good voice acting and some original character ideas for the time. All in all, a very good game.
You know I never thought about it, but look at the Eye of blood on the front cover of that magazine, does that not look like the Mortal Kombat Dragon eye, and it could be a sequel to the reboot.

That means even less! The fact that it is not owned by the publisher already (a whois confirms that) at this point should be far more evident.

Killer instinct is a Fighting game that came out around the time of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
it was the #2 fighting game. Streetfighter was like 3 or 4. But yeah a lot of Nostalgia.

@Snappybean: Go
It had 2 Great competitors
This is pretty much how it was back then.
1. Mortal Kombat
2. Killer Instinct
3. Primal rage
All coming very close to each other
@Taintedwisp: Go
Ah. Primal Rage. That too was an amazing game. I had endless fun with the orangutan character, farting and puking all over the place....

You know I never thought about it, but look at the Eye of blood on the front cover of that magazine, does that not look like the Mortal Kombat Dragon eye, and it could be a sequel to the reboot.

If you are correct, then it's too subtle for me to see it. I see the eye, but I don't really see the MK link. Either way, time shall reveal all....
