Ok, I am loving my custom build with $700 computer. The thing is, now I have 2 "useless" computers. One was the one I replaced with what I am now typing on, and the other was some heap of metal that my dad got from some dude at work. Now I got an AMD 64 prosessor and an Intel Celeron D lying around. The dude from dad's work was nice enough to gut the thing of anything useful, like RAM :( So now I got a 2 year old HP pavillion and something that says "Dell Dimension 1100" on the case which I already took apart. I have no idea how to use this "junk" now...
AMD 64 eh? What socket? If its 939, its the *only* thing that fits into my ancient trash can, and also out of production (don't think it's worth much...). Also, dual core or single core and how powerful? I might be able to use it (and hopefully buy it off of you... if i get some money...)
Idk for sure. Gotta do some research on it first. Also, I'm not sure about selling it to you though, lol. I was wondering what I could do with it however. My new PC has intel i5 760 so it pretty much owns both of the other 2. I'll look into it but I'm not sure about selling it yet, have to talk to my dad and all...
If its the CPU i need, i don't think you're gonna have a use of it, unless you find a motherboard equally old. From what i know (which might be wrong, dunno), the socket that CPU used wasn't that good and soon replaced with a new similar socket type that can't use the old CPUs >.> Anyway, GL with finding a use for those things! The others are probably more useful than the CPU if its the one i think it is :p
Donate any old left over PC parts to schools or something. I know here they have a drop off point and people will rebuild a PC using many left over PC parts and donate them to elementary schools and whatnot. Perhaps that is something they do in your area too.
Why not? Any PC for a school that is short in money/funding would be grateful to have any kind of computer... remember this is for schools... typing programs, maybe a few kids games. We aren't talking Crysis 2 at max all settings 2500x2100 resolution capable requirements.
We're talking Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, a browser, and thats it.

Idk it came off a 2 year old HP Pavillion that was purchased for around $550.
Probably not the processor i thought it was then, and therefore probably far more useful

Doesn't reaper live in the US? I think shipping a 2 year old processor from the US to Croatia would cost more than actually buying a new processor.

croatia? Yeah USA baby, USA :) proud to be an American, sorry. Good call wolf.
Lol, i didn't assume so since he posted this topic early afternoon for EU :p Guess he was up early
Yea, the shipping would probably cost more than the processor itself xD

I do get up kinda early, checked out the forums cuz I was bored.

hmm maybe there is. I don't know if they would want 2-6 year old stuff though.

The PCs at my school run Windows XP on single core processors with only 1GB or less of RAM -.-. A 2 year old processor would improve them infinitely.

im sure they do more then that dont they. atleast i remember in high school we used macromedia flash(year7-year10) in aus
So if it can play addictingames.com and use microsoft, that's all they need then? I guess so.
