Hello everybody, I'm FreekillX1Alpha or if ya want just call me Chris.
I'm a mechanical engineering student and a long time starcraft fan (since gundam century mod for Starcraft 1.07 back in the day). I'm also an old Starcraft 1 modder (read: modder, not mapper) and i was hoping that i could learn how to use the SC2 data editor with the help of the community; i would really love to remake some of the old mods from SC1 (Zeji mod i miss dearly; but nothing by IskatuMesk, that would be impossible for me). I look forward to learning from the many talented people here.
Welcome to Mapster, FreekillX1Alpha!

(Also, inb4 Almighty giving you the liberty of buying us drinks and telling you that there is no cake)
I was wondering if anyone had come up with a way to generate mods in a way similiar to SC1 (self executing; main mpq file alterations) or am i stuck to adding mods on a per map basis? It would be really nice just to host a custom game and have my friends use any map that they wanted with out me needing to add in the mod file all the time...
Hiya. For your question, you can add mod files in the dependencies window. But then you would have to publish that map to battle net to play it with anybody.

You mentioned Gundam Century for SC 1.07... I like you already! hahaha, that mod kicked so much ass!!!
Good Luck with your modding experience! It's a steep hill at first, but you will notice it steady's out after you learn some of the basics and get used to the editor.

@zeldarules28: Go
So then the only sure way to get the results i want is to make my game itself use my mod as the main dependency instead of the base file?
Oh, heya! Welcome to the community! Have fun while playing/creating/whatever starcraft 2!
@Tekaichi: Go
