I'll introduce myself a little.
Hello everyone on mapster, been following you guys since launch during the beta ( which I was in ).
I'm an avid starcraft player, playing starcraft 1 since I was 9 ( now I'm 19 ) although not to much success till lately ( was young, my apm sucked etc... ), the game is great and I loved the competitive aspect of the game. What I was intrigued about was Staredit, which I used to create a small campaign of about 6 missions which never made into release ( altho fully playable ) and some vs maps to play with my friends. Later, with the release of Warcraft 3 I picked up the World Editor as well, and saw massive improvement... but with 12-13 years I couldn't grasp all the complexity of scripts, variables, as well as many triggers which I had never seen in SC 1, so I decided to do something which I was good at, terraining. After a year of experimenting with the editor I left it for World of Warcraft ( never got into competitive WC3 matches ). I'm still playing wow, but something happened, Blizzard anounced Starcraft, I hyped and picked up the Warcraft 3 editor again... now with 17 years and started developing more complex triggers, boss fights ( which I kinda liked ) and some random maps with just terrain. But then magic, I got invited into SC2 beta, the editor was mine, and although I waited till the full version to start working with it, I checked up some things. I was amazed by the new editor ( and mostly becouse it was Starcraft ) but I also was a we bit scared... not becouse I'm not up to the challange, but becouse it's so diferent from the Wc3 editor that I was shocked... I was like: where the hell is my damage tab? Weapons? wtf? I'm currently working on a map which is not even near halfway done, but i hope in time it will be and I'll be able to make more maps in my spare time while also climbing on the sc2 ladder.
Sorry for this... text wall, but thanks if u read it, if not, thank you too, for atleast taking the time to enter this topic :) See you arround.
Welcome aboard. There are a ton of tutorials floating around these days but if you have any specific questions about the editor feel free to shoot me a pm.
