I don't have any myself, YET, however, my 27th birthday is at the end of this month and I've been wanting a tattoo since I was 18, just never had my own money to get it done, and it got pushed back in my list of priorities.
It dawned on me the other day that I still hadn't gotten it done, so I'm now booked for my first tattoo on March 3rd, 4 days after my birthday. It's going to be a dragon on on my inside right forearm, covering as much as possible.. I'll be sure to post a pic of my tattoo when it's all said and done ;)
I have always thought about getting a tattoo, but it would have to be pure black and something similar to gorandor's but again it would be a rare case of madness getting it done
Im a massive metalhead and have always wanted a large tattoo maybe on my chest or a sort of sleeve. Im also considering getting the blue UV light tattoos as lines running through my body.
The picture with the glare looks better, except for the glare obviously. Don't know why the non-glared one turned out stretched like that... looks a little too wide. both pictures taken from the same camera, like 5 seconds apart.
Took 4h and 30m to do. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm very happy with it. Definitely going back!
OH ya, ended up going back to the shop before my tattoo and having a discussion and what not to measure the tattoo, decided to keep it full size that way wouldn't lose any detail, and got it on my right shoulder instead of inner forearm.
No offense, but I would never put ink under my skin, unless beforehand included some crazy strong liquor. Of course, getting hangovers can't be fun so I like being sober. Like the design though.
Sometime in the future I will be getting two tattoos. One on each shoulder in the same spot the OP has. I can't say when it will be because their purpose is to pay tribute to my parents, who are still alive. The theme for each is settled, but the design isn't. I do want it to do more than just pay respect, so it should look good too.
LOL. Why would inking your skin require strong liquor?
Honest to god I almost fell asleep at one point while being tattooed. The worst pain was the hand that sticks out from the tattoo... you can't see it but it's pretty close to the armpit area and it's pretty sensitive there. The only time I hissed was at the end of the session when he went back over it for a final touch up on that hand... imagine your skin being irritated(outline) then it gets irritated again(shading) then a final touch up... it gets more sensitive if you go over it again and again... lol.
Like I said though, the experience was great.
And I cannot blame you, Reaper. I believe you are rather young if memory serves me right, and I don't think it's something you should do when you are so young, or on impulse. I've been wanting a tat for 10 years and never had the time/money/opportunity to get it done, and then I decided it was now time to do it.
My sister has gotten quite a few tattoos when she was younger, and now they are all covered, and have better meaning and whatnot.
Sure, a Dragon might have no "true" meaning in the regular sense, but if you must know I collect ALOT of dragon stuff. I have a fullsized sculpted dragon coffee table, a 14inch cast bronze dragon statue with a crystal ball, a 16 inch dragon-blade, a collectors plate with a wizard and dragon(real diamond on the wizards staff top), and a boatload of statues, statuettes, posters, etc.
I didn't even have to tell family and friends what kind of tattoo it was gonna be, they all knew it was going to be a dragon :P
Oh I'm not saying it doesn't have a meaning, just not in the 'traditional' sense.
My sisters and brothers in law have tattoos in relation to their children and whatnot.
My father has a tattoo of a unicorn on his forearm in honor of my mother who passed away 12 years ago.
And then I see pictures of 19 year old guys with a tattoo from the elbow to the first knuckle of their pinky finger, of a skull and a gun shooting a bullet with some stupid saying... how can THAT have any meaning? Fucking gangsters. LOL.
hey dragons are pretty cool. I don't think you did anything wrong. Sometimes people get a little crazy and put snakes spiriling down their arms, spiders on their necks, ect.
What I meant by liquor was that I would usually not get one unless I was drunk, and also it increases tolerance to pain I believe. Hey, enjoy it now that you have it. It costs a couple hundred for an elaborate design like that yes?
The average rate is 140$ an hour. But since both my sisters and one brother in law all get tattooed by the same guy, I basically got a discount rate of 100$ an hour.
Not bad! That included the vitamin A&E , and Tattoo Goo aftercare products.
Ya, alcohol can numb the senses, but seriously it wasn't that bad for pain and I almost fell asleep at one point. :P
I sometimes have a temporary tatoo when I faceroll over my keyboard hard..
Apart from that I don't have any and probably won't get any.
There are a few things (mostly symbols like Gorandor's) which I wouldn't mind so much, but I think I'd regret it in my later life.
I don't need a tatoo that'll look grotesque once I'm old, fat and wrinkled and which reminds me of how stupid I was :D

Anyone else wanna share theirs?? :)
If I ever get one (which would be a rare case of madness) it'd probably be this on my right hand

Clearly then, your tattoo does have meaning. I'd say you made the right choice.
