I found this web site with all the sc1 models it's interesting but can you even use these portraits or unit sinsc2 and if I wanted to get the portraits how would I put them in correctly. You can link something. http://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/starcraft/ I just wanted to share this link with mapster.
They are not models, rather sprites. The difference is that they are purely 2D and as such have limited correct viewing angles. This means they will be out of place next to SC2 model content.
It is still possible to use them to some extent however. This can be seen in the mod CarBot animations is making where all melee units are replaced with cartoon drawn sprites. I am unsure of the actual mechanics but I believe it uses special dummy billboard models and some complex actor events.
Do note that the sprites used by SC1 were created by pre-rendering models. In theory one could port such models to SC2 however such models were never really released to the public, were not designed for direct use in a game and likely look far worse than you would hope. I would recommend sticking with the StarCraft II versions of units where possible as ultimately they are probably the best.
Portraits, while also being just 2D and not 3D are video files. You could easily convert .smk format to .ogv (which I think SC2 still uses) and just display those video files.
That said, I wouldnt mind someone retoucheing the Project Revolution ultalisk with normal and spec maps
I've looked for this for the past 3 days and can't seem to find a download for the whole project revolution (just some terran demos) nor the ultralisk. If you can point me towards the model I'd gladly work out something for you.
PR was cancelled shortly after the terran demo. I am not certain they released anything else, but the gif they posted were so cool. I will see if i can pester them.
The demo file is somewhere with most of the units and structures but I have no idea how to get the models and to translate them into SC2 (it's basically Japanese to me)

So if some one wanted they could convert the portraits from sc1 to sc2 and use them in a sc2 game?
Sure. Everything's possible.
