Oh man those wallpapers make me excited! The Rendez vous and Zerus give me that alien mysterious feeling that Wol did not have at all .
If I remember correctly, Zerus was the home planet of zerg :D , I already feel that Heart of the Swarm singleplayer will be much better than the goofy story of Wol.
I found some info about the campaign on this site, If I understand correctly the units that will be morth and split are the: zergling,baneling,roach,hydra,devourer and tentaclemonster ( o_O?).
@Leruster: Go
Yes doodad models were also problematic, my guess is jusy that something changed in the material parts of the model format since the mesh chunks still work properly.
And why exactly would the model format changing explain ttheir delay in the art tools? I mean they USE these art tools to make their own models, I mean, they have them already :P
@Bogdan254: Go I believe all units will get morphs. The Beta has morph versions for the Baneling, Zergling, Roach, Swarm Host, Ultralisk, Viper, Broodlord, and some of the files hint to at least Hydralisks as well.
I know it is only beta and there is no way all the new campaign models are in the map editor, but I wonder If they made the defiler and the brood war queen or they gived those abilities to the viper morphs.
Anyway, I would be very grateful if you could show me any image of those campaigm models, I didn,t get a beta key and I am to excited to wait the game to be released.
@Bogdan254: Go Here's what I could find except the Nydus Worms. There are textures for some other units but no models yet (Hydra evolution, devourer, guardian).
And in the data module there are hints to other models: a collector edition of the Ultralisk.
@Bogdan254: Go Those are called ZergArtillery and ZergArtilleryEgg in the files. They are flying units but they only have a few and very simple animations.
The Egg is a weird mix of units, it has the Lurker forehead and the ass/tail is an overlord. The face and tusks look like the Leviathan's.

Hey, what are the names of the other new unit models? Are there more of them, different than the one in the last pic?
@Occamsburningchainsaw: Go In the models files all those are called by their basic unit names + EX1 (that means HoTS) + A or B for green or purple variants.
So the 2 Ultralisks are UltraliskEx1A and UltraliskEx1B. But in the icon files for the Swarm Host variants are called Carrion and Creeper. The Swarm Host is called EggMonster in the files. The Locust is called SwarmHostSpawn and the variant in the screenshot is called SwarmHostSpawnFlyer.
The only one I didn't include was the green Viper variant, because it looks identical to the base model from a distance, it is only slightly darker.

The egg looks like some kind of larval stage, I bet it's the larval stage of ZergArtillery. ZergArtillery seems to use the Guardian textures...
@Occamsburningchainsaw: Go Unit icons wont show aything new. Most of them are for the melee units. The exceptions are the Nydus types and the Swarm Host / Locust variants.
So, after Blizz saying that Zerus was a desolate, rocky world...
It turns out to be the lava jungle planet. But, whatever. Looks sick (in more ways than one) and I can't wait to use it!
And wait, somebody said that the ZergArtillery used the Guardian textures? Please please please do not be the official guardian model. Be something else, like a mutant overlord.
@Soulfilcher: What happened to the Nydus models, exactly? And is Nydus Dragon a variant of the melee Nydus Worm or do you not know?

I checked, it does use the Guardian texture. The Devourer texture is not used by any model, however, and it looks just like its SC1 counterpart. The Swarm Guardian, which is used in WoL and has its model available in the editor, is actually a spot-on recreation of the SC1 Guardian, only with additional segments at the back. There is a version of it without those additional segments and a more fitting, non-snake-like animation that can work as a SC1 Guardian perfectly well.
Also, MASSIVE POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING! This is all information that has been extracted by thoroughly looking through the beta's files. Some of these may be entirely scrapped and a unit or ability may show up more than once, under a different name.
EDIT: Added Guardian and Devourer textures. Looks like the flying Roach-like unit near the Banelings in the Zerg evos pic is using the Guardian texture. To be honest, the original SCII Swarm Guardian (Scrapped alpha unit, used in Lost Viking) looks more like the SC1 Guardian than this one does. I prefer that one over this "Flying Roach". There's even a modified version of it without the extra segments at the back and with a different animation that could be used for a SC1 Guardian. This one just isn't as faithful to the original design as the Swarm Guardian was. Perhaps it looks different because it's the Primal version of the Guardian? Hmm....I'll add to that that the Primal Zerg seem to have uprootable structures...Night Elves, anyone? New race is good, but they're still Zerg. What, are we going to have violent Zerg vs Redeemed, good Zerg now? x)
And the Devourer appears to use the Overlord head or something.
By the way, there are some ominously-named "Cerberus" strings in the language files. I wonder if those "Pirate" or "Mercenary" or "Mengsk" units might not be by any chance Cerberus units. How neat would that be?
@xcorbo: Go
Did I ever mention how much I love you?
I literally think my head just exploded with the stuff I'm seeing. This just makes me want the game 1000 times more.
Cant wait to play around with Kaldir and Zerus terrain and doodads! It's just perfect
@xcorbo: Go
Checked the swarm host and nydus dragon models with println's m3toxml tools and it, indeed, has changed... not good :/
At the same time that may explain the hold-up with the Blizzard's Art Tools.
You had any problems with importing the doodad models? What was problematic for you?

Yep, they look like some really ugly,mutated,franken stein guinea pigs..I hope they are ester eggs, because they look hideously ugly.

Oh my, those new units look pretty gruesome. They look like full on units instead of eggs though, I wonder what's up with that.
@SoulFilcher - Thanks! Can you please upload some of the icons, then?
