I think we can all agree that Starcraft 2 is not as competitive as BW. It is poorly designed and lacks many strategic mechanics of its predecessor. I also think we can all agree that it is ridiculous to QQ about SC2, the game won't change until an expac, let's hope blizzard understands the importance of an engine redesign during the HotS beta. One player, Gossen from EU realized that there was an incredibly powerful engine at his disposal and instead of QQing made a map that is currently becoming more popular every day.
You can find his thread
It has nice little pictures so you can see what has changed and what is still the same, though I assure you, EVERYTHING is redesigned and made better, nothing is as bad as in SC2.
I hope you like what you see!

So what if SC2 isn't as competitive as BW? It still is pretty damn competitive. I can't stand kids who love to try and make the game more balanced or competitive. You can do so much to make a game more competitive or complicated but who cares? This map (Starbow) may be pretty freaking sweet and resemble BW but I don't want to keep playing the same style of BW for years and years on end. I love the new mechanics of SC2 because it forces everyone to relearn strategy with new units and abilities and that in itself is complicated and forces a competitive aspect. There is of course much more to it.
If you don't like the way the new game plays fine, play this "Starbow" (The fuck kind of name?) but Blizzard sure as hell isn't going in any direction such as this. Big companies like Blizzard may understand that past games have succeeded because of specific elements they implemented but they'll be damned if they create a new game which utilizes the exact same elements of an older one.
Also this map is pretty imbalanced as is. I mean it's not horrible but it's light years from Blizzard's design.
As your thread title suggests, this imbalance is the way the game should be made?.....
...The important thing is you tried, son.

I take one look at this post, and I realize you haven't played the mod. You call it imbalanced, why? Did you lose to a diamond player and cry because the race you were playing just happened to be underpowered, and the race you were playing against overpowered? The logic you are using is that SC2 doesn't need to be as competitive as BW because its new. Of course, this just means its going to be no more fun faster. Currently the SC2 metagame revolves around grabbing bases, defending them heavily, and building supermassive armies. Players then proceed to throw these armies at each other, and whoever has the biggest army at the end wins. What Starbow does then, is it reduces workers per base and makes territorial control more important, suddenly, 200/200 isn't easy to get anymore, instead, its a long road to a maxed army where a lot can happen in between, this is exciting to watch and play, and anyone who says it isn't doesn't completely understand the mod. And another thing, if you looked at the pictures and cried OP, newflash: ideas aren't op, numbers are. BW was balanced because the numbers were so close together and the design was so good and the mechanics gave you full control of each and every one of your units, granted you had the skill to utilise it. Starbow makes it easier to utilise this full control, but so too does it give you more options. Your whole point revolves around it being not as good as SC2, perhaps it isn't as good as SC2, but the many who play it all agree; its way more fun.

Starbow sounds like a cheap cider.
A Brood War 2.0 mod, how inventive.
