Well now I understand why your map was banned ^^  Some words were really innaproriate xD

Make sure you take out all slang for nationalitys (eg. scot, brit, yankee, and especially paki).

um... i know it might just be me.. but seriously.... two chances? O.o then he's penalized? either i'm just too newb with map making to think it's hard to acidently do something ((like this case)) or something seems wrong <.<

Sure you didn't know about those words, but like the letter mentions, you can't blame Blizzard for that. Fact of the matter is that you released a map where people were actively supposed to type words like "cocksucker" to eachother. You can't expect them to allow that - this isn't just words with double meanings, these are words that are used and created for the sole purpose of downtalking somebody.

I'm not saying it's entirely your fault or something, but really, wouldn't you want to ban someone from your map if he was actively typing words like whoremongerer and cocksucker?

Maybe it doesnt exist, but try using a "specialized" dictionnary like Annimals/plants/microbes/insects/planets/chimical names ...
This way there will be no chance for any inapropriate words.

I think XanoX02 had an excellent idea... find a dictionary/compilation of animals or plants or something... names of stars, names from StarCraft lore, planets, anything like that. If you use words specifically from StarCraft and StarCraft 2 they shouldn't have much recourse.

I like the idea of specialized dictionary, you should try it. Would make things more interesting and you could learn of new words you never knew of before. Starcraft related would be the best.

All theses quote to say : I still beleive you should use another dictionnary. I dont think that it is possible to remove every offensive words, and you may loose your account if you dont respect blizzard policy again. There is many dictionnary that can be used.

Starcraft lore / Mechanical (like car pieces etc) / Plants / insects names / planets and stars / People Names / Chimical names / Math equations / Annimal names / Bacteria names / Region and country names, there is so much you can find i'm sure.

I think a Starcraft Lore dictionary would be a great idea if such a dictionary exists. It would make the map a lot more relevant to Starcraft.

I don't think anybody has adressed this yet: Imo the way Blizzard responded to the matter is showing that they do give a crap about the community, and trust me not every company does. I have played a couple of online games and some companies have their customers whine for years (!) without even the slightest reaction.

You have to keep in mind this is "just" a custom map - while I'm sure a good one - from "just" a player.

If your gonna tell him to use different dictionarys please add links.... if your just suggesting then.... you should prolly make sure they exist before suggesting.

The only way to make sure you wont be banned is to review every word you add to your map.

Thanks to Shawn and other members of sc2mapster, we spent a big part of last night reviewing the words.

The dictionary is now smaller, and I believe there's no offensive words.

I was suggesting, and like i said in my firts post, i'm not even sure if these dictionnary exist on internet at all.
And i never said there was no need to review every words.

And i really have a hard time writting in english, so i cant really help with finding offensive words, i only wanted to suggest an idea.
LOL at me if you want, but there always be somekind of stupid player that will find somekind of word "innapropriate".

I support Rodrigo's work, this map was awsome and know NWW wont get banned again because alot a people seem to care about that map.

Heres what you do: Slap an edit box in it (when it works) so players can pick the word. Then add a disclaimer along the lines of this:

Why can't we just have ratings for our map... and if that player account tries to join the map is too young they can't play it... simple as that. >_> doesn't it say that online play may vary in ratings anyways?

Well they said he could upload the map on the same name, which enable old player who have the map click it again will download them the new version. Not sure about popularity, even if its kept, it should be 0 as the map is not played for the last few days, so games per hour obviously = 0

Blizzard has gone soft. It says online experience may vary right on the box :(

They sure as hell didn't freak out when people were playing Strip Tank Defense in BW. Or hell there were hundreds of maps that were just nude pictures or offensive content....... SOFT

Makes me miss the good old days of WC3, when we didn't have Big Brother Blizzard watching over us, telling us what we can and can not see or play. Isn't SC2 rated M? Or did Blizzard stop making games for people older then 12?

I don't really mind them banning a map if it uses bad words, I just think they should start banning players aswell.

- instant ban to whoever uses the word "retard" and we would be heading down the rightious path!

Or atleast fixing my starcraft crashing when I try to play custom/coop/ffa games.
