Would just like to highlight two of Blizzard answers indicating some very important custom map improvements that are possible in a future patch. There exists several more possible future improvements in there forum post (http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/627976600#3) and I suggest reading them all.

Q. (Bibendus) - Are you going to fix the keyboard/mouse control lag? 90% of custom games are ruined by this.
A. We will be improving keyboard and mouse control in a future patch, but we can't match the responsiveness of an FPS game with an authoritative server. Keyboard-based unit movement should be as responsive as issuing move orders with the mouse after these changes.

Q. (Bibendus) - Are you going to add a feature to store banks on server so they can't be viewed/edited/corrupted by users or concurrent maps?
A. Bank protection will be added in a future patch to allow mapmakers to prevent users from modifying their bank data (optionally).
I can tell you right now that this bank protection will be cracked. Look how they "lock" published maps ... unless they think of something fancy such as storing hashes of the banks somewhere internally.
Ultimate goal would be that users could not only not modify their bank, but also can't make a backup. That's important to prevent cheating through trading, etc.
Of course you'd have a lot of fun when reinstalling Sc2 then. Bye bye banks.
Bib has asked whether we get server-side banks, but Blizzard didn't answer to this. They only said we'd get bank protection, not that we'd get server-stored banks.
Generally when officials avoid answering a question directly it means that they just try to not speak out a direct denial.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure we won't get server-side banks.

If banks will be stored to their machines then you wont be able to change those files. You can change only local files.
Diablo 2 characters were stores on their side. Only thing you could change are local files. And usually warden or whatever its called is comparing your files with theirs. Its can be sometimes cheater(dont know), but its a risk. So basically its not working.
Now, I think they wont use same technique but they just have to make some protection that wont be worth cracking. When you will say, its just not worth the effort.
Server side arent worth it xD, (blizzard would say).
They will be reducing the delay on both key pressed and mouse clicked events so that they match the responsiveness of using the command card and issuing orders to units via mouse click. It will have a large effect on the responsiveness and feel of WASD controls.
This is the one I'm more interested in as well, from what I've learned about this stuff they'd temporarily put the lag down to 125ms during a point in the beta so its likely possible that's as quick as they'd made it, which is still half the delay that we currently experience and that'd be a good thing. They definitely can't make it 0 for sure but from a previous hypothetical mulling over I'd given it before they could drop it to that range or perhaps as low as about 100ms for anyone within a decent distance of their servers, as they're planning on hooking the fringe regions into the larger ones I can't see them dropping it much further or they'll definitely have a different experience then the rest of us.
Command card commands have pretty identical lag, I tried this by twinning programmer's command card driven movement system and rrowland's in the same map and they reacted identically. I posted a video of the results in the thread for programmer's system as well if you're interested in confirming that and I think I still have the test map I used hosted publicly on the NA servers.
So here's hoping they do better then just match those speeds.
Maybe it is the mouse click unit commands that take less time and not the command card ones. The delay from the trigger way also becomes increasingly higher the more players there are in the game. Also I don't think that data based movement system needs to be a direct representation to the delay when using the command card as there are other factors involved.
Agreed, well here's hoping for good times coming. Just the assurance that they addressed this concept in an interview means they're at least aware of how this hinders that style of map and want to address it to make them more appealing.

If it's server based than it should be fairly secure (with the user not able to see or touch them). It is still good news though.

A large possibility, but they haven't implemented or announced anything precise yet so no one can draw any real conclusions at the moment.

Imo that's because they didn't really study the question.
Great news, anyone have an idea how much of a % this will help WASD controls or why they lag in the first place in relation to mouse clicks?
In regards to data security, the general rule of thumb is the less you talk about it the more secure it is :P, just common sense.
