I was trying to download my own protected map from b.net to share it as a standalone map but it seems that the old path has changed during time.
Where do downloaded maps go now?
I know I can delete the trigger file from the mpq but I prefer to use the map protected by blizzard.
Are you serious? I have a lot of shit in my downloads directory and it doesn't seem the right place :|
There is no reason why they should be placed there...
Once they where in User/Documents/Starcraft II/Accounts/id/something_else
I might be wrong but if it is a protected map, you download .cache parts of it and it is pretty unrecognisable - ie: cannot be opened in the editor. Unprotected maps are downloaded as sc2map files.
Do a search for all .s2ma files on your computer, search for the one with a date that matches the last time you downloaded/updated the map? The name of the file is likely to be heavily obfuscated though, With a bunch of seemingly random sequence of alphanumerics.
I recall it's in the battlenet cache and it's usually under a really obscure directory.
It was like this but it changed probably with some patch. I bet blizzard is trying to protect maps the more possible for the upcoming of the marketplace!
I tried to make a simple research of anything by date in the documents/starcraft II directory but I found really nothing changed, did the path change too?
Maybe nardival is right...
I logged to bnet, hosted the map, it shown me the download bar, I closed the game and here is the list of files of my computer orderer by modify date...
Ok it seems that the protection changed. Not only triggers, now the map can't be opened because some files where removed from the MPQ.
You can probably insert empty files with the same name to fix the error but I'm sure protection has changed!
Here is the error:
Unable to load file (Core: file not found): ComponentList.SC2Components
Might be stating the blatantly obvious, so feel free to shoot me down on this one. But - don't you have the original .sc2map file? Ie: Before you published it to battle.net, it still exists? Or does publishing (something I've never done, personally), convert the file somehow?
I also understand that you might not want to simply upload the map here as fully open source!
Hope you solve this soon... Itching to play this :)
Publishing it as locked removes some files and it makes the map unopenable by the editor.
I decided to release the file as it is downloaded from bnet, at least it will be hard to see stealers republish the map!
You can't open the map directly with the editor but the only way is to drag&drop the map into the sc2.exe link
Try "C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache". (Assuming you're on windows) :)
There are tools to view the map-list and find the map-file.

(The post I had here wasnt related to this topic, wrong answer :0 )
And downloaded maps go into the drectory listed as "Downloads" which is somewhere in your computer, it's where ALL things you download go,

WHERE THE HELL ARE MAPS STORED NOW?!?

Apparently no longer in ...\documents\starcraft2.
Searched my whole C: dir for "*.s2ma" (without ") and heres what came up.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
You young padawans have too much doubt in your hearts.
Also, QFT. :D
