Hello, I've come to suggest a new feature for the forum. "Watched Threads" =)
(you can see how this feature works in the forums at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/)
the basic idea is, you login to your account, you go into the forums, when you find a thread that you would like to read again in the future (without having to search for it), there is a button at the top of the thread called 'Watch Thread', you click it.
In the future when you login again, on the side panel click the Discussion forum tab, then click 'Watched Threads'.
This will display a list of all the threads that you have marked as a thread to watch THAT have some new posts in them.
(so if you've marked a thread to watch, but no-one else has posted in the thread since you last read it, that thread will not be in the 'watched threads' list)
(however, if someone has made another post in any of the threads that you've marked as watched, then that thread will be displayed)
this feature would be epic for people asking questions on the forum, who are waiting for answers
again, my explanation may be a bit hard to understand, i recommend making an account on Whirlpool and seeing how it works, because it is definitely a useful feature...and my Firefox bookmarks bar is getting overloaded with short cuts to threads xD.
If some people could comment on this feature below, that would be awesome.
Thats a cool idea, but i'd want automatically sending an email to be optional (some profile setting maybe?)... because if you were watching a really active thread, you'd get spammed by emails. which would be annoiying.
edit*
on Whirlpool, you do not get emailed when one of your watched threads gets someone posting on it
This is a very needed feature I think, especially considering how splintered the various developer sub forums are. (The splintering is good, but as a user its then that much harder to track threads you're interested in short of having dozens of bookmarks and manually/periodically checking them yourself).
maybe do it how moddb does, it have a little button next to pms called, watched threads, so you just login and u can see if you got any updates on that topic
better then getting your emailed spamed with updates
(sigh moddb has both they should take the email one away)

Thank you =)
Good Idea, but. Would the servers send an email to you whenever a 'Watched thread' Is replied to?

Very good suggestion. Im certain Sixen will implement this feature fairly soon.
