How cool would it be if the hybrids where an actual playable race? I know there are only two hybrid units but If they where to be elaborated on what kind of buildings would they have? Would they be like the zerg with larva and organic structures, or protoss type things, or most probably a cross between... I was thinking about it and thought it would be really cool if there was more stuff like this in the game. I'm not too read up on the actual starcraft canon material so I was wondering if others who were could perhaps expand upon this?
I think there will be a lot of hybrid stuff at the next expansion, Legacy of the Void. For an altered melee map, hybrid would be a good idea, but not as a fourth race in normal melee.
For buildings/units, the Hybrid would have a mix between small and weak spawns (more zerg-like), and the powerful hybrid as seen in the campaigns (more Protoss-like).
I'd rather see the Xel'Naga as a playable race, they do have some structures as well and we have one Xel'Naga model that btw I learnt about from wikia - some model of Amon and I've never checked that out ingame.
Hey the some one could make the xel'naga, the hybrids, and the community robot race as playable. then we just create an alternate form of starcraft. Mabye post apocalyptic sc or something.... would be pretty cool.
A Hybrid race would be neat. One of my very first jabs at the editor was a attempt at making the xel'naga race for the game. It was a very crudely made map. I used the prisoner zealot for the Harvester and when they harvested the gas the green box went around his head. Here is a question? What kind of special talents will the hybrid race have as a race?
I cant remember who the guy who does the balancing for sc2 but putting a 4th race into the mix might just kill him.... lol
Still it would be really awesome. I think the hybrids would be a mix of fast powerful "glass cannon" type units with mid speed tank units. That would make microing them pretty hard though.... interesting....

In my (rather unqualified) opinion, saving SC2 from the grave should take precedence over balance.
If there is a Hybrid or Xel'naga race, I hope that (at least in campaign) they'll be more of a 'boss'-type faction and/or a mix of Elitists/Spammers. :D Probably would have to be drastically nerfed for MP tho, but I doubt they'll add it in for normal games. (Yay for altered melee maps)

@StealthToast: Go The structures shouldn't be biological. Hybrids are engineered and then cloned, so far in Terran labs, but they have been using Xel'Naga structures and devices too.
In my (rather unqualified) opinion, saving SC2 from the grave should take precedence over balance.
And kill the game for melee? I don't think so. I'm sure when people meant a fourth race, it was like in War3x - the Naga, just for campaign and custom. Not that I would mind a fourth race as me coming from a 4 race game aka War3, but that would kill StarCraft as a game of 3 races, melee, it wouldn't be starcraft anymore.
When you mention a 4th race, I remember how much better I actually was at melee in War3, how skill was more stable and how you wouldn't allow some horrible cheese strats to win, how it was nearly impossible to lose from lower skilled. In SC2 even on top level you can see one player barely stays on the top for long, winner once, not heard of soon, every time new winners.
SC2 still has it but I can admit, it's not as fun to watch and play as war3 was.

Something like the Scrin from C&C 3 would be my guess? Basically a mixture of bio-mechanical units and mechanical structures.

I would love a fourth race. It really feels like SC2 needs to be injected with something due to it's gradual, but persistent decline.
