I was working on a map just out of boredom for a few days. I opened the map today and all the terrain, regions, cameras, etc. are gone. Its just a black empty area. Oddly enough though my triggers are still there. Yesterday I removed the liberty story dependency and added in a custom one I had made earlier with a few spells in it. Could that have been the issue? I put the campagin story dependency back and restarted the editor and its still doing this..... Also I can create new terrain by using the raise cliff level tool. What the heck is going on? Kinda ironic I remember just telling somebody to always back up their work but since this was just a kinda side-project I didnt.... lol...Any advice?
update
I removed the dependency I had added myself and the units, doodads, and regions/cameras came back, but not the terrain. And the camera is set super high and wont zoom in any closer....???? what the heck. why that would happen from me adding a dependency? That specific mod file I made was originally a map that I deleted the terrain from and then converted to a mod file. Could that be the issue? Cuz otherwise the mod only has like 2 abilities in it. When I test the map its just a black screen with my dialog objects. I think thats because the camera is being weird, like it is inside the editor.
Yeah I saw that but I think its unrelated. Thats an issue with the terrain having holes like that. For me everything was gone. Also the one you bumped is just somebody who had trouble resizing the minimap in the editor. Thanks for trying though :D

Well now that I got the terrain to come back it looks like a normal map. The issue is that my camera (in the editor) is locked super high up and wont zoom in or move correctly, like it does when you make a mod file. Which makes me think the game somehow mistakenly classified the map as a mod- which would explain the deletion of terrain, regions, and whatnot as well as the unusual camera behavior. In-game its just a black screen with my dialog items appearing where they normally would.

I can't recall yet.. but I saw someone say that on team liquid too... of course no one helped (or even responded lol).. guess it could be useful to contact him if you're stuck or if he advertised his solution...
..cause galaxy is not equipped with a reset to default for one when it comes to pointy stuff (i never fixed my texture hierarchy for one) ...
your explanation (map mod map mod) seems a good guess, I messed with it at first and never got the "specifics" of mod vs map hosting a mod... i settled on "do it the way it doesn't bug" so as to get to tastier stuff in galaxy...
Seemed easy enough for blizz to overstate the bugs so as to avoid them .. but hey, this is 2011, users should be in "complete control"...
It's cool on other maps?... I'd say yes.. sad if you lost much o that particular one or if you have to re do it on a "proper" mod file.. hope if that's the case you'd be able to export most of it in one go...?...
Actually I think this was the first time I used the mod. I thought I used for it something else but I now remember I copied the mod and converted it to a map instead of using it as a dependency. I actually dont care about the terrain whatsoever- 90% of my work was in triggers, which I guess I can just move into a new map and set up all the regions/cameras again. But theres no way I know of to copy data, right? You gotta do it via a mod file?
i meant (possibly this concerns you): you made a mod on a converted map (changed stuff by/for this purpose)
then you are stuck with a map that has all your data and need to do it all again on a "proper" mod...
it was soooo easy before (last in w3, but good on all blizz editors) to import export ALL layers.. sadly i've yet to get to this in galaxy... sooo dunno
"the first time I used the mod."
i think you should test it online frequently from the start (even if you have to do it / test / delete online)... many features are not allowed and/or bug out online.. something fierce, trust me (i've barely tinkered and have binned loads already)
blizzard you killed my map!! Whatever, I copied the triggers and re-did a bit of the data. Not a huge loss. But I think I need to not use the mod this time and just re-make all the abilities inside it lol. Anyways thanks for the advice everybody.
:( for the loss of time... copy paste of data and triggers should really be super easy... on a virgin map/mod... chalk it up to experience, i tested every modification i wanted/had understood enough to test out ..past the publish shite.; ended up and binning my project out of the experience...

this is the second (bumped the other for efficiency) of it's type recently...maybe related, but maybe not...
terrain would be effected by "data" (map into mod into map)... sad but probable..
this=> http://forums.sc2mapster.com/general/general-chat/18181-odd-graphical-problem-with-newer-maps-in-the-editor/#p17, probably unrelated but just thought i'd add it since it worked (could aat least give you ideas)

I think I might have had a similar problem. Do you have any pictures?
I meant it as unresolved apparently and in one you have a "all gone when i open it" post
The ew fixed is to give you hope... and it concerns more "hardware" so i thought you'd get thinking about any cp related stuff you did recently...
Also it's all the same patch even if its not "straight out of it"...

just trying to help... good luck

bon courage
Oh, the problem that I had was all the terrain textures were black, but it was easy to fix.
Sorry, I couldn't help.

Also I dont have any error message like morfois did.
