@zorbotron: Go I dont know what a Crypt Fiend is, but I do believe it can shoot something from its top part, and I do believe its related to zerglings or banelings. Here's a picture for comparison.
Pretty much all Zerg units have those characteristics though, Soul. Especially the spider-like legs are somewhat common. This guy also looks a lot like a Roach.
What I'm having trouble deciding is whether the thing on his back is some kind of mortar/cannon or a shield. If it's a shield, it would seem that this guy can retract his shield along with the armour on his front legs in order to form some kind of armadillo ball. If it's a mortar, then it'd be some kind of Zerg artillery, obviously. It might be a combination of both?
@Mozared: Go I know some body parts are generic Zerg parts, but I tried to create more images like that, so I could compare other Zerg units to it, and they just don't fit that well. I can imagine it shooting acid at air targets or maybe ground targets from a long distance, and since it apparently keeps the acid in its abdomen (and shoots from the abdomen too), it can be related to Banelings.
Hm, yeah. Still though - I'm not sure why they'd add an AA unit to Zerg, especially a low-tier one. Only way I can see this making sense is if they remove Corruptors, which means they need to do something with Broodlords well, making it less likely. With Corruptors in there as 'heavy AA', Zerg has good enough AA capabilities as it is between Queens and Hydra's. A pure AA unit wouldn't really fill a hole in the Zerg's army.
Actually, I think it's a roach evolution, but with silhouettes you really can't tell. Again like the last one this'll have to wait. The one silhouette im looking forward to is the protoss one which might be easier to decide what it is.
Is this a melee unit? If so, I'm going to try and think of what zerg doesn't have that Blizzard might be wanting to add. The mortar sounds realistic. Zerg doesn't have a long ranged unit that is even close to accessible early game. Both Terran and Protoss have ground long ranged units as well. However, Zerg was designed to have fast shorter ranged units, and maul things over in bulk. This becomes a problem with Terran wall-ins. Brood Lords are a great counter, but if the Terran player gets bunkers, that is a problem for the early game Zerg units.
Now for my point. The silhouette resembles the bunker thing quite a bit, but there are some differences. For one, the legs look far thinner, indicating what could be a faster unit. The top resembles a mortar like feature, unlike the triple machine gun type weapon in the previous video. I think what Blizzard is trying to do is create a unit that can take down a bunker and then quickly get out before taking a lot of damage, and then take down some of the other defenses from afar. I would assume it would have a timed life.
I also have some other theories. The joints are quite thin, and could not carry much weight. This makes me think that perhaps this is an evolution of the baneling or zergling, or some other smaller Zerg unit. Also, the face resembles a hydralisk. The sabor teeth things curve upwards like a hyrdralisk, as apposed to inwards like a baneling. The spines on the side also resemble the hydralisk. The syle and shape of the head is also almost identical to a hydralisk.

We already were told what Protoss would get; A T1/T2 raider harass unit. I'm guessing it'll be easy to figure out with the kind of silhouette it'll have. (Sort of like the Soul Hunter/Purifer)
Here's the silhouette for a new Zerg unit in HoTS multiplayer! To me it looks like a low-tier AA unit.
@SoulFilcher: Go
I think it's that bunker thing. It looks quite a lot like the one they showed a while back.
Well, not quite lol.
I hope its not flying unit!
@SoulFilcher: Go
Looks like a Crypt Fiend, those couldn't AA without their web ability though
Its a Hellion Transformer!
Looks like some kind of siegelisk or something. Reminds me of the good old reaver. We'll see.
This was that video of the bunker zerg, I don't think the silhouette really matches except for his head and teeth, but it could be the angle.
Actually, after watching the video a few more times.. it does look very similar (hind legs n all)

Looks like Triceron's Tyrant with a caparace.

They should just bring crypt lord from wc3 to zerg unit...
It doesnt look that good to me...but oh well.
Reminds me of this:

Which reminds me of the Crypt Fiend from War3.
Clearly, it's a Hydra evolution. Either AA or Artillery, Tier 2, 2.5 or 3.

Great to be back and part of the community again!
What if this thing works like the Virophage from the campaign? :P
(Note: The Virophage was also used as an AA structure, so it may well be an AA unit)

I think it is a upgraded baneling that has a attack called burning acid spray.
Obvious memes are obvious.
