So i was thinking of ways on how I could get more traffic to my game, and other games that I like as well. And i thought of this.
Collaborating 1 website/forums for multiple games.
The website and hosting is all paid from myself and im offering it the maps that want to collaborate for free. (I will host any map that was an active developer, even if its not good - aslong as an effort is made in the development)
benefits:
- The forums is already made - saving you tons of time
- shared members of all maps hosted on my site
- you get full mod of your forum, adding/removing what you like.
- increase traffic to your game
- build a more lively community for your game (assuming you dont currently have a website)
- no annoying advertisement banner or popups, and there never will be
features:
- Xenforo forums
- events sections
- wiki section
- clan section
- shoutbox secion
- paid reliable hosting (go daddy) which is offered to you for free
To check my website, visit TugDefense.com if your interested I could quickly wip you up your own forum with your logo.
Theres a Home section which i plan on changing it so you can enter any of the other maps from there.
Not a bad idea, and pretty kind of you as well. Do you have an example site we could look at, such as the one for your own map? My project is likely looking at a few more months minimum before I'm happy enough with it to put it up on the arcade. I have a very basic forum set up already with forumotion, but am not opposed to a change/addition if it can get more people interested in my map, be able to respond to unforeseen bugs faster, etceteras.
Pretty sure my project would qualify as what you'd consider good, been working on it for a year at least. Just look up rpg in the custom maps section, it will show up after an obscure bunch of numbers. I set it up that way so my testers would have free access to it and so would friends, without inviting too much attention to itself before it is ready.
I would agree this is a pretty awesome idea i would love a place people could submit bugs and what not
If you were willing to give mappers a place then i would love one I have been working on my map for about 1 year and a month i believe

I've gone ahead and quickly made a temp forum for you as an example, which can be changed from yourself to your liking.
As for the other maps, i havn't taken a look at them, but I will tomorrow.
I will only consider adding maps that i feel are awesome or better. My goal is to have a portal where the members know any map listed there is deemed a great map, and not just any map can be hosted there - otherwise its just like battle.net arcade and nothing worth getting attention will get noticed.
@EternalWraith: Go
Eh nothing wrong with paying to host your own site, wanting to offer the service to others if you like what they've done, etceteras. Isn't like he is charging for it by the way. Is no need to be condescending about a guy not liking a lot of what has been deemed most popular.
@Stexen: Go
By the way Stexen, I also like your logo for Zaysite's project more than what he is currently using. If you do look at horologium rpg by the way, please ignore the horrible ugly dialogs that are present in the current version, in particular the hero select dialog, it is just bad and it should feel sad on the current version. Have something new this week I hope, assuming my monsters start doing what I want them to in the near future....
Oh it was not meant like that and I dont mind OP's proposition. I just commented on what I think is a common rhetoric expressed by many mappers, aka 'Most of the top rated/played maps are thrash and dont count toward much, compared to my map' mindset. I mean, c'mon. Thats obviously not the case generally speaking.

i looked at the videos, i saw a lot of depth in your character development. would love to try it
When did i ever compare any of those to my map? Never did i say mine was better. Im just saying theres other maps out there that are far better (to my opinion of course) than MOST, not all, but most of the maps played atm.
I guess eternal has a point though, I wouldn't want to reject any map that was worked hard on only because I may not have liked it.
The forum is open to anyone who wants free hosting, join up at tugdefense.com and post the name of your map, a video (if you have), the genre and a description of your map.
Right now im corrently re doing my forums so it will look better

It's sure that I will go on! How it works if I want to have a place on the website?
I've gone ahead and quickly made a temp forum for you as an example, which can be changed from yourself to your liking.
http://tugdefense.com/forum/index.php?categories/island-troll-tribes.49/
a few things to consider:
The "home" button in the nav bar will have the URL changed to a real home page listing the maps.
I quickly whipped up a logo for you, as I didnt find any. feel free to change it to whatever you'd like
The url you see for your forum can be changed.
the video of my map nere your logo is just for display showing what you can do with that little section
the background, font, litterally anything on your section can be changed to your liking without changing mine
the "homepage" feel isnt there, but can be added in (blocks on the side, whos online, etc)
you can compare that to my page, which is hosting that forum, http://tugdefense.com/
Let me know what you think, join the forum if you want your map (islan troll tribes) there

So what about games that suck but are popular? Like mine?
Member since 2010. Made the -The Thing- [Revival] game. Nostalgic of the WC3 days.
@Stexen: Go
Holy cow thanks so much that logo is awesome did you make it?
If so can i use it as my new logo for the SC2 Arcade?
@zaysite: Go
yeah i made it, feel free to use it.
@Vicboy: Go
Games that are popular really don't count for anything in my opinion. Half the spot light, top played, and top rated game I see are trash (not all)
I couldn't care if your map had 2 reviews to it - as long as its worthy.
I've never tried the Thing before, but I have seen your video. I could see how it could be fun.
