As i said i do recomend workin for riot games. But good luck in the future, your the chosen one the new Napoleon/Ceaser/Hitler? Ok... bad example.... But still what you did is AWSOME! Seriously, making a mini mod for a game (Beacue you are limited with the sc2 engine you could do much more!) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Working for a company.
So whos up for making a really fing sweet looking video of "World of Diablo" with no intention of releasing a playable demo ... just a really fing sweet looking video which looks playable.... just to get a job offer at riot and a tour of the blizzard campus?
Well Blizzard owns the name 'World of Starcraft' apparently. I think the
chances are it's because of one of two things:
1) They own it so that they can someday make a WoS if they choose to 2)
'Project Titan' is actually World of Starcraft, but codenamed Titan.
Probably number 1 tbh :/.
Ive been expecting this for awhile now, .... dont they have bungie working with them on it actually ... you know the people that made halo..... haloish mmo = World of SC
Why should Icefrog get all the cash? All he was
ever truly good at was seeing the potential in other people's work, and
piecing it together like a jigsaw puzzle. Dota is merely a collection of
derivitive works, nothing more ... Icefrog has never once been a good
designer nor has he ever been transparent about anything ... this is a
bad thing.
I love the irony in your post. You describe the very reason why he is a good designer and then proceed to say he isn't one...
EDIT: While I'm sure you're a very talented and hardworking person (look
at how many modders have canceled their projects - I include myself
here), it really looks like a publicity stunt from RIOT. To be fair,
it's not like you had invented a new game or reinvented the genre.
Still, big congratulation from me! You can't imagine how many people
must envy you right now, it's a chance of a lifetime.. don't let it go!
It should be noted that they simply asked him to apply, they did not offer him the job. But yes, it does seem like PR. If they actually wanted him just to have him, they would have kept it private.

Creation25 this is all pretty awesome and I wanted to congratulate you on your hard work. Like you've pointed out WoS isn't too too impressive but your other RPG is pretty frickin' amazing and a very solid package. It's really good to see someone benefiting from pouring countless hours into the data editor for what feels like no gain as your hopes and dreams slowly wither away with your maps hourly play count.
Anyway, I just got an email myself from Riot.
About 3 weeks ago i was given an art test by them. Haven't heard yay or nay on that specifically yet, but when i saw all this go down i got back into contact with them, letting them know I also have SC2 modding experience since they seem to value it and i linked them a youtube video of my mod cosmic eclipse.
I'm now also under possible consideration for a game design position. This is a super far long shot, but i just thought it was super cool of Riot games to contact me so quickly and wanted to let you guys know creations in this editor can get you a job anywhere if you can show strong game design from a youtube video. Just because our dreams of a blizzard marketplace, or heck even just wanting to have your map actually played die, take a video, it has a merit of its own.
Well if blizz doesnt allow you to make the game sience it might kill their other more expensive game i say work for another game! But cosmic eclipse was a very fun map i have to say crazy dude!
Another email, from Riot, resonated so well with what i just said in my prior post that i asked if i could share it with you guys. This was addressed to me but i felt it would make a great followup. I referred to us as the "little guys" in my prior email and thanked them for taking the time to talk with us openly:
There is no such thing as a little guy. You guys are what make us so great. I do tend to fight for the underdogs of the world…..I appreciate creativity and bold risk taking even at the cost of getting your hand slapped. How else do you learn eh? I just didn’t want the corporate giants to kill his spirit. I intended well and never thought it would go viral. I’m just one recruiter trying to help another person get a paying job in this market. What can I say, I have compassion for people. I do know that Activision historically has a bad rap for doing things that are just not good. I wish it weren’t so but at least they serve as a sharp contract to RiotGames!
Jeff, you just keep on plugging away. Put out good intentions out there and it will happen for you.
I've been contacted by Riot as well in regards to my map, Smashcraft (apparently its a hit within the office), and I got to play a few games with the recruiter as well. Honestly, I'd snag it if you are offered the opportunity. I am really heavily considerring it, this could be a big opportunity for you and I wouldn't waste it. If game design is something you are really passionate about, or games just in general, I'd REALLY recommend looking into it.
The guy who contacted me seems to be very smart about the business and really cool overall, so I'm really hoping this pans out. They're also expanding the company a lot, so its not unusual to see such a massive recruitment campaign where they're looking for people who can prove themselves in the field of design and technical knowledge. He did tell me that they're offering jobs to a lot of talented people in the modding community.
Honestly? I'd give anything to see my ideas and work go into something without bounds. The map editor is great and all, but the lack of community support and general failure of actiblizzard in many degrees is a turn-off. I don't feel like its a company I'd want to work for. Don't get me wrong, Blizzard makes incredible games (Sc2 itself is such a good game), but I feel like often times their industry decisions are just TOO heavily influenced by what will make them the most money and they do not seem to care much for their community prescence. Riot, on the other hand seems to get involved very directly with their customers, and I'm really impressed with just how active they are in the gaming & e-sports community.
Again man, I'd really recommend pursuing the opportunity. Maybe I'll see you at Riot soon? =] One can hope.
By the way, when it comes to media, people mislead each other just for pure attention, since having people's attention can rack up popularity and maybe money.
That's how it goes on the net, stupidity or not.
So with the WoSC thing, it's blown out of proportion because of two groups:
- Those that loves WoW and don't care if the information isn't true.
- Those that loves to lie and mislead others to profit from them.
@wOlfLisK: Go the deal with titan is its a brand new Intelectual property or IP :3 so its GOT nothing to do with any current blizzard game thats out. well thats what blizzard said. soo we wont know about it tell futher notice hope fully blizzcon.

Win.
... I had every intention of releasing a playable demo and still might if everything falls through.

Thanks djimii11, I'm cautiously optimistic about all this. Been looking for a job for a few months now and i know not to get my hopes up.

I hear you Mephs, I would jump at this in a heartbeat.
And congrats to you too! Hope things work out for everyone.
World of World of Warcraft. :D
I will be programming this ASAP.

Creation25 I'm just wondering, how did you get that UI Spell bar?? I can't seem to figure it out...
@dra6o0n: Go
I'm not sure how it could profit them though.
I was just about to say this! [The majority of] Game design is just sticking together elements like a jigsaw puzzle...
