The one and only problem I have with the new editor after patching it is that it doesn't work at all. Immediately after I click on the icon of editor, I recieve this:
Good guess. I indeed tried to use 64 bit one on 32 bit system. After the 32 bit one showed that error. Who wouldn't.
My own guess is that my win xp hasn't been updated to sp3 from sp2 completely, only slightly. Maybe I'm the only person in the world with this state of OS. Googled zero instances of this issue. Was no problems earlier, though. SC2 itself, for example, works fine even now.
So, I'll just install everything on another computer with win 8.
the cache side message indicates that it is the user's computer preventing the "export" for publishing, possibly not allowing blizz s temporary data to be stored or accessed while/for publishing ?!
yes, that is the first "pass", then you think you fix by publishing it with a pc .. you then come back to the mac to publish and there/then is when i got the next "no publish possible" prompt: "gateway miss match" .. and that is the end for me
Solution: re do the map :(
i tried cheating (copying elements into a new map that publishes fine at the start) and it did not work :( something turns the map unpublishable getting the missmatch prompt)
so i would not advocate "multi platforms publish"
gl to u
ps: I then did a new map POST PATCH 3.0 (admittedly i was nigh pissed) and i did a little experiment, i did the "turn your map into sc2 components" and mmm ..
.. let the picture speak a hundred thousand words:
btw my editor is now always online, keeps downloading stuff with 10 kb/s even when logged off. i really hate this and it's annoying the shit out of me.
yes!
we dont want editor synch with blizzard homebase.. or do we?
while it does not seem to have affected many pc mapsters.. i suspect that this change is the one bothering mac mapsters, since mac do not allow such "exterior" practicies ez :(
I cannot publish any map from my mac OS X machine, even a very basic one, and I get the same error message. So I don't think re-doing the map will help me.
I can publish my map from another mac OS X machine, as well as other windows machines.
Re-installing the game entirely didn't solve the problem.
I don't get the screenshot you put here; it is a multiple languages problem?
About the publishing, i can publish (os 10 10 5 and sc editor version 3.02 (all updates done (through the game/not the editor)) "new" maps :( sorry if you can't publish new maps :(
the different uploads (via mac then windows) might have done something to your map/editor
for instance when i did that (from mac to pc) my map info was blank, when i brought the map back.. it wouldn't publish from the mac anymore :(
About the screenshot:
patch 3.0 changed the enGB local, effectively deleting it.. or so are we lead to believe.. my screenshot is of a map in an sc2 components form (a folder instead of a file) done post 3.0 patch.. why is there an enGB local appearing? was my point.
ps: c'est weird de taper en anglais entre fransouzes :D
edit: just remembered, did u have enGB and not enFR installed on.. because that 's what i did (it was a request direct to blizz, it was apperently not acceptable to get enGB (the game in original language (at the time it was enGB their solution not enUS)) from france without them doing it)
i don't remember (sorry) if they fixed it or if if i just abandoned previous shit, sadly i did many efforts to forget all those hours of ripping my hair out
in any case, i'd check: local of your editor producing new maps, localization of your map when another machine publishes it
and setting all your os/machine sc2 authorizations to <YES>
coz it is clearly blizz's attempt to get something that fails.. and macs are notorious for that
not to mention it, but i did drop my mod dependencies to get the publish to work (re doing data and other in the map proper
Pitfall (mac): user made dependencies can't be accessed/updated to a map (it tries to access the mod online (while it was uploaded beforehand with "success" "100% complete" message) and never achieves it (timed out does not even occur lol)
Solution: none, the mod dependencies mechanic is the only way to keep map/mod size in check for dumb ass blizz cap/publish time out
copy pastu when/if it works, re do everything go do maps on another editor :keepo:
just to be clear, i am the moist stubborn guy around.. i made my mapster user icon say "gone".. just to remind me that blizz made me lose my first batch of maps when hots came out.. and i left
i lost my unit palette, no one ever found anything to fix it
i spent countless hours trying to publish stuff while the servers were down while they were not indicating it (publishing uses other servers)
i spent countless hours polishing with test document (all good) only to then be unable to publish...
i did the mix some pc in your mac, some mac in your pc...
no one is out there
no, blizzard never released their editor, they faked it
again, i'm out, wasted by the excrutiating notion that i'm being played with
New pitfall: Using the Show/Hide Doodad trigger now affect footprints. This can be a good thing as hiding a doodad will remove it's path blocking qualities. But this is also a problem if you hide a bridge/platform doodad as the bridge will no longer keep ground units in the air. They will rather fall down to lowest terrain level while walking over it.
i cant confirm this one, destroying/hiding a doddad doesnt remove it's footprint. can you post an example map where you have managed to do so?
My bad. I misintepreted the issue because of doodad and pathing settings in my map.
The footprint remains. It seems that only the act of raising units above the ground were affected. If you hide a bridge units can still go over the canyon but they glitch and move up and down instead of in the middle of the air.
Pitfall: Unable to update multilocale maps properly, for those freshly published after 3.0 patch. This does not block the update, but only the enUS locale will be published. This leaves "published name for <your locale> does not exist, and it will be excluded from publishing." in message log.
Workaround: Overwrite enUS locale texts with texts from your desired locale.
Pitfall: When trying to publish I get a: Warning: Document aliases could not be accessed: CLIENTSIDECACHE_LOAD_UNABLE_TO_OPEN_FILE .
Solution: Remake the map (thx houndofbasker). Can follow these quick steps: save as a ComponentsList, then go to the folder created and open ComponentList.SC2Components. Save this as a new map (temporarily changing the name).
------
Pitfall: Unable to save resource file... Operation not permitted (1) error occurs during publish preparation (hence, can't publish the map). Occurs for file /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/StarCraftIITemp/Publish/<map name>.SC2Map/Screenshot01.jpg
Cause: It looks like it has to do with the screenshots and file permissions. If I delete all the screenshots from "Battle.net info", I can publish the map. It seemed like a permissions problem but I manipulated it in many ways without success: changed file and folder permissions, opened editor as root, even changed file format from .tga to .dds, etc.. This occurs with any map I create (new or old).
I don't have a solution yet, except for publishing without screenshot. Does anyone else have the same problem?
has the recent patch fixed the map update issue for you?
i dont know yet and i cannot test it since i am still downloading the latest patch. btw downloading with editor is faster and way more reliable than the launcher for some reasoni dont know.
Pitfall: Units and commands on terrain height <= 8 "float" above the ground. Shadows are disconnected and move actions don't match cursor location.
Solution: Increase terrain height
Manually increasing terrain height across an entire map is impractical, but it can be directly increased in t3Terrain.xml (change heightMap offset). This creates problems with any objects or doodads which remain at the previous level (ie, underground). I wrote a quick python script to update all objects by a fixed amount; it seems to have worked fine on test maps and an active arcade map, but please feel free to message me if you experience any issues with it.
edit: Just to be explicit, the script is intended to update the "Objects" file.
the editor has this feature. data - modifiy height field moves everything up, the terrain and doodads and fixed my height bug. it didnt move water but that's not a big deal.
The one and only problem I have with the new editor after patching it is that it doesn't work at all. Immediately after I click on the icon of editor, I recieve this:
Ant it's all I have. No other problems.
You are very lucky then!

I don't have this issue. Points work fine for me. Not saying you're incorrect, just that it doesn't appear to be global.
