Ok. So, I started interviewing players in 1v1+Obs by Slime on the 1st page of the popularity list and ask them their opinion about that 1v1+Obs by Slime and iCJUG.
Some of them did not know what iCJug is, but a LOT of people knew about iCJug. Those called 1v1+Obs by Slime "terrible" and iCJug "awesome."
I asked them why then they play 1v1+Obs by Slime if they call it "terrible" instead of iCJug that they call "awesome."
For my surprise, the answer of all of them were the same.
"Because it's more popular. I don't want to wait half hour in lobby for iCJug."
My conclusion: More people play what they find terrible to avoid waiting in lobby for the good, more popular the terrible gets and more the good disappears forever until the terrible becomes the good.
ps: Mephs was one of them. ps 2: I have nothing against Slime or his maps. I'm just stating what people told me.
By 'going crazy on Teamliquid' you mean there's two pages of "What's IcJUG and how is it better?" and "Hmkay", then shit sure got real there. I wish it went crazy on TL...
......*Sighs*...... Yes, Rodrigo, we are all aware of the flaws of the popularity system and your opinion about them. Okay-dokey? We're waiting for blizzard to fix it. Nothing we can do, especially here on the mapster forums.
I was planning a map called "The love room" and the video introducing it would be on the bed (doing it). No joke. The map concept was alright. I just gave up because I don't think it would be played.
And Blizzard has shown that they appreciate my videos by deleting the last one from the forum without any warning.
Rodrigs threads are getting really old...he should make a blog or something to saticfy his needs of constantly posting this stuff.
edit*
btw isnt Icjug somekind of melee map with some weird features? I think all melee maps should have their own gategory and no place in the small custom game list (wtf is xel naga caverns doing on page1 or 2 :E)

Well, you WERE on a toilet. xD
I'm pretty sure Bliz would ban you again if you tried to post a porno on their forum. Just sayin'.
Also, I think Rodrigo's evil plan is to demoralize us so only he makes maps and everyone is forced to play Banana Cheaters 2: Orange You Gonna Ask For A Banana?
One question, if you make a game and stay inside for 4 hours, do those hours get included? maybe we could bump our maps like this xD.
You have to add computers (good idea to fill the whole lobby with computers so no one can come in), open to public, and you can only stay inside for about an hour. There's some system on the map that drops the player who is afk. I don't know how it works, but it might be based on the APM and on the number of triggers being called. If you're dropped from being afk, the map gets 0 hours played. So, it's good to stay inside for only 1 hour.
And yeah, you can set a mouse recorder to do that. But it won't help. It will only give extra 11 hours played to your map, which is NOTHING! Not even enough for page 8.
Now if you have 100 copies of Starcraft and 100 computers, you can make any map popular in a day. Once popular, it will stay on top for at least 1 week (3 days if it's not playable at all).
Wait a minute.... how many members we have here? O.o
We just need more than 100 people ready for it. If we can have that many people in the same server and ready to leave the pc boosting for a day, we can push any map to the first page. And I was thinking of a "map of the day pushing"
But, I think it will be impossibly hard to get that many people to set up mouse recorders and risk being banned by Blizzard.

But you need to start the game, or you can leave?
I'm going to publish my map soon, and I might try some of this to get some attention.
What I really noticed is, Rodrigro found a way to achieve page 1 status. Page 1 of general forum is filled with a lot of threads started by you know who.

This is going crazy on Teamliquid, since they are mostly iCJug players.

And I'll just leave this here:

We could do a "map of the week pushing". Every week another map to be pushed by the Sc2mapster community.

You have to realize not all of us have tonnes of free time to waste. Some of us have a wife, kids, a full time job and other commitments etc. etc.
I don't see anything wrong with not wanting to wait 20-30 minutes for a game and just wanting to log on to play for a bit and log off.
It's human nature :p

I'm not blaming the players.
