You can get into the editor now in LoTV? And upload stuff? I tried around when the prologue maps came and couldn't get into the editor. Once I finished the missions I uninstalled so as not to use up all the hard drive space (not all that interested in standard multiplayer). That's cool if it's available now.
I assume a few weeks before LotV release similar to HotS' engine upgrade patch.
It seems so. But I think it is a very bad idea on blizzard side. Back in wol->hots period, we actually get 2 major patch for pre-hots engine upgrade(1.5+2.0). And 1.5 came out 9 months before the swarm. Even that didn't make all the maps up to speed in time.
So a few weeks before the LotV? Would be a disaster for most maps, and we don't even have as many active map makers as wol->hots period
Also the thing I dislike most in the swarm is a basically zero editor improvements for the live environment. In wol we have 1.1-1.5, each time we get a great bunch of new editor features. It's one thing that keep me dig things and make the editor community has something to discuss and learn.
And the swarm? We only get a 2.1
If the void continued to be the same way, my last passion of mod creation would be drained.
jesus. you cant try now your maps on lotv launcher. Its pre-purchase, there arent finished a lot of stuff so your maps can't work on unfinished lancher, Its pre-purchase because of campaign ,not maps or assets..

The latest beta game already have all the wol and swarm stuffs, or what else do you think need 15 gigs in client? for only 3 missions and the melee game part?
If you map break on beta client, then yeah, it would break in the void
I don't know them. I'm working on new campaign so i hope it will works for voice too, my mission panel, and other stuff. Nothing custom except Mission Panel with dialogs.
if it won't work, then void editor will be cost big shit.
40 € just for campaign...its like throw money through the window.
The only way Void will break your stuff is if you are using Blizzard stuff.
Now, that may seem like a completely stupid and obvious thing to say. The thing is how much of Blizzard material you are using. If you are using ANYTHING in data from non Core dependencies, then yes, they may make updates to those data entries that will then mess with your own stuff. If you are using ONLY core stuff, then you will have minimal problems. From my data mining, things are mostly being added (and thus pose no issues to anyone, since it is stuff your things won't really use until you configure them). Very little is being removed if anything, and not much is being moved around. The editor UI itself is being updated and new systems are being added (like UI animations for example, Zeratul in the Prologue entry screen is done entirely with UI, no triggers).
Right now, based on what I've seen of Void Beta and Storm patches, the editor itself is still in major flux. There is a Data Wizard feature that is incomplete at this time, it appears to let one take the data editor and more or less shape it into "Wizards" that can be exported. Think taking the SC2 editor and making it into the War3 editor, where most of the irrelvant data fields are hidden, only this time you get to pick the fields. This way, one can craft an easy/simple data editor view for making say, a basic unit.

that would mean they actually started to read feeback after 5 years

Most of maps are based on campaign depedencies etc. so.. :)
In my case though the problem is related to UnitSetFacing native. They seem to change on how it behaves when called again on unit that hasn't yet finished its turn.
In swarm when called again it will instantly stop its current not finished turn, and proceed to execute new one instantly.
In lotv when called on unit that is already turning it will stop the turn AND wait till the next tick (i think so, didin't investigate it carefully yet) before proceeding to execute new turn.
It might seem like a trivial change, but for games based on that mechanics (ice escapes) it's a game breaking bug.
Basing on this i suspect there might be more hidden changes.. or it's just me being unlucky :< we'll see i guess.
I just hope it's a bug and i'll be able to report it somewhere.
sure talking about the Heroes of the storm stuff

I wonder how many maps gonna get broken from that massive update.. they surely stacked a lot of changes through hots development.
I personally already tried my map on lotv client and guess what.. yeah -.- ..

To those with the beta and experience with other sc2 betas: How far along is the beta now? Care to take a guess as to when the game will be released?

Nope, editor is still not available. But that doesn't mean you can't just launch the map offline. I do it from command line:

The pre-sale's already started, and the pre-sale page says 'this winter->march next year'

My war3 mod works 99% in the beta client.
The only problem is the new build messed up the heroes's attack icon. Which is something I need to fix.
- Also the inventory shows hotkey label even while the slot is empty. But that can't be called as a bug since it's a global change in the void.

Yes, most of the compatible issue comes from the system/functional change, rather than data change.
For example, my mod is basically only use core mod stuff, while the hero atk icon still bugged (it's actually a bug on void ui layout.)
Actually there are some minor break in the wol/swarm campaign themselves - if you find the right way to run them, that is.
