originally got here trying to learn how to use the galaxy editor naturally.
for various reason I have actually paid money for adobe production premium and I'm sorta in the process of getting my feet under everything.
basically I want to do replays like everybody else seemingly on YouTube. But I'm actually comfortable with doing multiple takes and the workflow it takes to chop everything up and make a narrative out of it.
trying to stay brief, so far the only thing I wanted to use the galaxy editor for is I want all the colored icons, I don't want the full on production tab on, but I want to display on screen when important upgrades finish(like +1 armor). so I'm just going to convert the icons into psd files and use priemere pro to have them pop up.
basically my gimmick is I want a clean screen, with the ctrl W command I can pull down the interface and I record at 1900x1200 so I can crop the top displays completely and have nothing on screen but the replay controller. BUT of course I lose the minimap. so I record the game once with all the displays up and just crop everything but the minimap out and put it in the right corner! so I have nothing on screen but the minimap and 3d game.
I also have some clever tricks I'm going to use in after effects to spice it up a bit.
so lastly I was thinking to show the map at the start of the match I would use galaxy editor to get a top perspective and just drop in the respective command buildings and starting gathers.
basically now that I've realized how powerful that in camera in the editor is... I don't want to use the in game camera... so is there anyway to take the replay file script and play it out in the galaxy editor? can you guys get into the code that's in the replay files? being able to use the camera controls on a replay would kinda obsolete every other replay cast thats ever been done.... lol well that's the wish. I mean really powerful for the set pieces, to be able to use the slower game speed and do 360 pans and depth of field shifts.
anyways. oh. I forgot, i was gonna try on my own, but has anybody done a chroma green ground texture and sky texture? so I can have the 3d models running around and just use a green screen workflow to put them in a different setting?
here is my latest work, not Starcraft though, total war is my first love... no viewer base though, and extremely annoying work flow(no rewind in replays for example)
Well I finished my project and it's pretty universially hated by the starcraft community. it took about 40 hours to make and it's almost instantly rejected by just about everyone. pretty epic waste of time.
Anyways, maybe someone here will have an appreciation for parts of it given the people who actually work on innovating and creating content use these forums.
Could use some work. I could set up what you wanted in the GE, but I probably wouldn't be able to make it cross-map :/. Although I may be able to add something to do with banks etc.
