I think sc2mapster community will be interested in this http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/legal/acceptable-use.html. The most important things about copying blizzard games and donations. I think we should be happy that blizzard does not really care about this policies, because many maps should be banned, including mine if they were observed.
The only thing I struggle with is the corporation names in credits of a map. =/ I would find it wrong to not mention them as I've recreated their crafting items in my map (which kind of originated in Diablo Hellfire with oils).
Their recreation rule means that you aren't allowed to recreate Hearthstone, project titan, Blizzard AllStars nor HotS or LotV in SC2, but you are allowed to use and recreate stuff from their other games.
The thing with donations is that it shouldn't be used to hide sales. A donation is something where you don't expect anything in return. If you expect something in return, it's selling/buying.
Can't believe you actually read your PMs, glad to have brought that to your attention. It seems you are trying to get answers if Blizzard ACTUALLY cares about those policies. If a map was reported I'm sure they would care about it.
The "copying of blizzard maps" is stating that you CAN copy from those maps, but not from sc2 campaign which everyone notices will get them in trouble.
Banning people from your map is another one that people don't know about, but if your map is reported a decent amount of times it can be enough that blizzard will end up sending a warning for you to change those features, or worst case scenario, shut down your map.
You CAN get donations from your map, but you CANT give anyone any special perks in game for them.
Donors shall not be provided with any in-game special advantages, such as private access to a Custom Game, special levels, graphical markers, special text, abilities, units, etc. All users are to be able to play the same Custom Game;
Can't say I like this. Sure, things that give an in-game advantage are bad, but "graphical markers, special text", seems very harsh.
Either way, it isn't enforced. Nearly every top map does this.
to enforce: to ensure observance of or obedience to (a law, decision, etc) (word ref)
A/ 2 types of enforcer: blizzard agent and player
players: players who would report skins = lol dum basses
agent: would be checking from a "report" point of view (see above) and then .. one would have to be pretty thorough to get any valid info...
B/ Reports: i don't know the weight of their agents .. nor do i know what form of screening the maps get (the time devoted to check said reports)..
What i do know is that a lot of people got/get reported for cheating on ladders (the one i use being jadesmusreg's ranked'pc , but i mostly mean THE sc2 ladder) and there was little to no effect... (?) (check destiny and whichever hacker)...
so in fact .. i would like more blizz cracking down (acting upon the report).
However, for map creation it is a ridiculous notion.. blizzard would not strike Maverk's scbw or it would do it for a "corporate" reason .. never out of "reports".
blizz or actiblizz : same thing, they do what is in the interest of sales / ambiance (within community of said map).
Players started rating bw laddders the minute a third one appeared .. i aim (with delight and huge smile) at cheats and Void rays alike on pc.. what i mean is this issue predates sc2.. it appeared the day a game map editor appeared.
While lan gave "credibility" to map creators (or indeed ladder creators).. now sc2 gateway houndog can do anything it wants .. and it has already defined everything :
1/ thou shall dissapear if thou be more than sc2 : debates
2/ one can cheat all day long on sc2
3/ high profile maps get special agent treatment : scbw
4/ other maps get ignored
ps: f ck bl zz no l n p l c es, pc would have had its own ladder/server a year ago .. me sad panda
It seems this policy is just a CYA for Blizzard with respect to limiting pissing off their arcade community. On that note, it is a sad attempt because everyone here knows that Blizz does whatever Blizz wants at the end of the day.
I, personally, make an effort to follow this policy. I had originally intended to ban bank hackers (or attempted bank hackers) from my map, but Necro brought this policy to my attention. Now, I will simply limit their in-game rank/rating without denying them access to the game.
