I must admit. The Galaxy Editor is awesome. However, there is one thing i miss. It's the old triggers from sc1 editor. (SCMdraft2 type stuff) I just think that it would save alot of people time if they had the simple stuff. Like just saying "kill all units for player X' right out there insteadof saying "pick unit in unit group blah blah blah" They did include most triggers, i just think some of the simple things are alot more complex then they have to be. But, I must admit, it does make map making more fun .
In case you need stuff like this frequently, you can make a new action definition, then you can call your own "Kill all units for player x" ;)
I want the easy hero creation from WC3; we won't get what we want :(
I should make a library of all the SC1 trigger functions, and put it up as an asset for everyone. Shouldn't be too hard, most of them we're fairly simple back then.
true, but it is nice how when you test a map now you can keep playing if you messed up and it instantly defaults to victory or defeat. I remember in the days of sc1, when i was learning staredit, soooo many times it was like load the map, everything explodes, black screen, defeat. hahaha the good ol days when having coloured text was oooooo ahhhhhhh
The "easy triggers". I started with WC3, which had a trigger system preety similar (although not as good) as SC2. When I got SC1 and tried out the editor, I did not go, "WOW! These triggers are easy!". I said "wow. Those poor sc1 mappers had to use these ?"
Really. People complain that the new editors are hard to understand, but that's because they are powerful. And that's why this website exists ;)
Like kruken said. You can make your own actions if you would like. I was unaware of them at first, but I can tell you they are unbelievably helpful for most maps. They are also very simple to make (they're preety much just triggers with parameters)
